This has not been easy for me
I am not one of thoses it all been fun and easy people . My WLS has been a challenge from the day I had my surgery . I have not given up and I hope no one els does either. My WLS was on 11-11-03 and take a look at my profile and see what I have been through. I had alot of down days and a few complications but I would do it agin. Talk to your doctors about all and every thing no matter how small. Keep the small things from becoming big ones.
I am so sorry for what you have gone through. I wish everyone having this surgery could have my surgeon. I hated the nurses at the hospital but my surgeon is the best. I had my surgery on 11-21-2003 and I feel great. I had to have a CAT scan too but it was easy. I never had a cathetar, ever. My drian tube was pulled on the third day.. and that was by far the worst pain of this enitre ordeal. I only had to have liquid diet the first three days at hospital then soft for the next three then start slowly adding new foods each meal until I am eating lots of healthy protien options I am down 47 lbs and eat anything I want just small amounts. I credit my Dr. with my success he knows his stuff. He empowers his patients with success and their own choices not rules only rules are no carbonation, no alchol, no asprin,... basics and the carbs stay at 50 or less a day. You want b-day cake have a bite not a slice. I love him I hope you get back on track and feeling good soon.. It is all worth it. Good Luck..
I feel bad for everyone this is not having an easy time of it. My surgeon was also wonderful and a couple of nurses left a lot to be desired. My only complication was that I developed pneumonia but my Dr. caught it right away and began treatment - this kept me in ICU my entire stay but and I had SEVERE back pain. My back hurt more that my abdomin if you can believe that. I did slip on some ice at about week 4 and pulled some abdominal muscles (that hurt 100x worse than the surgery and I got a huge earful from my doc for being out in that kind of weather). It has been difficult but not anything like I imagined. I actually went back to work on my two week date. (Although, doc and husband weren't too happy about that. I must have a VERY high pain tolerance level - I also went back to work 12 days after having a complete hysterectomy. Anyway sorry to rattle. Hope you start feeling better.

Well, I am one of those for whom this whole thing has been marvelous. I also went back to work on my two week post op date. I have not had problem one, and have only had the food burp once. Every body is different and every body reacts differently, but keep that mind moving positively and the body will follow along with you!
