Severe Pain After Eating
I'm nearly a month post-op, and I can't eat. I tried eating a soft scrambled egg and runny grits yesterday. As I began to swallow, it felt like I was swallowing a butcher knife. I was in extreme pain. The last few times I've tried to eat real food, I've had the same reaction. I'm scared to try to eat anything now. I'm trying to restrict myself to liquids, but there has to be a better way. Can anyone tell me if these pains are normal and if so, when will I be able to eat anything again? Thanks! --Glenda
Hi Glenda, I am also nearly a month post-op. although I have not been eating solids I can swallow without pain. It sounds as if there is something going on with you, unless of course your throat is still sore from the tube they put in during surgery.I call my surgeon for an appointment as soon as poddible. Good luck to you ,and may you feel better soon. Beverly
Glenda i agree with everyone else when they say call your doctor. I bet your new little hole that your food passes through is to small and they may have to dialate it. Im only 1 day from you of having my surgery and I have been able to eat all of the foods that Ive tried so far beginning with eggs, chicken , turkey , crackers, Pork Rinds, cheese Ive even made quasadeas out of Fat Free Soft Toco shells with cheese and deli turkey and was able to eat 2 pie shapes. I bet it's because your hole leading to your pounch is to small and has began to heal and needs to be dialated.
