I have tried ground hamburger, chicken, and a little turkey. Everything has gotten stuck. And I do chew. Are we ever going to be able to handle it?

Hiedi, I have days that I can't tolerate meat, others I can. Everyday is different for me and I never know what I'll be able to tolerate. I tried to eat a little turkey on Sunday and had to vomit because it got stuck, I was able to eat the turkey today. Today a scramble egg got stuck, it never has before, but it did today. I have not had good intake for the last couple of days. I will have to do better tomorrow. Good luck. Debbie

I had open RNY on 11/17/03 and have been doing some type of ground meat since 11/22. I can do ground turkey for tacos, ground round in meat loaf, Wendy's chilie, chicken cooked in a crock pot with gravy or soup. The other night I even had a chicken leg from KFC, all skin removed and did great. I just take VERY SMALL bites and chew chew chew untill it's almost mush. I hope it gets better for you. Good Luck, Robin W

I am able to handle chicken & fish just fine. Any beef so far has not gone down well. I am very grateful that I have never thrown up anything, but when I eat beef I get a very upset stomach. I tried tuna fish on crackers once too & they did not sit well in my tummy. I am glad that I can at least handle the chicken & fi**** helps me to feel like I am eating normal. Last night I tried sausage & that did not sit well at all! I will stay away from it for awhile now! Good luck to you all!

Hi, Nov buddies... I have tried turkey (Thanksgiving), deli turkey, deli ham, tuna, ground beef, potted ham spread, Tuna/Chicken Creations and fish (my fav...try it with fresh lemon!). The only episode that I had was with the ground hamburger when I had a couple bites of meatloaf. (The ground beef in the homemade chili did just fine..go figure!). I have also discovered the scrambled eggs will get stuck, so I have sworn off of them for a while. Everybody handles it a little differently...hang in there, hon! (((hugs))) -Karen

I've had no problems. Just took tiny bites and chewed till my mouth hurt. I've had chicken, fish and ground beef. I didn't get sick, but I am not real fond of much of anything these days. I eat to live...to get in protein, but I'm no longer really enjoying my meals. Sigh.

I've been able to eat most meats. I haven't tried fish yet, but poultry, pork and ground beef & jerky seem to stay down well. I did throw up chicken once, but I think it was because it was cooked in a greasy quesadilla. I just had a gyro today (just the meat and a little piece of lavash), and it has stayed down well with no nausea. I thought lamb, if anything, would have given me trouble! One suggestion if you're leery of meat: Last Friday I made a Boca Burger, then topped it with ketchup, mustard and relish. (No bun) It was sooo good.
