Hi everyone... I have really missed reading on the board the last 2 weeks.... but my incision just wasn't cooperating with sitting at my desk...LOL Well, I am soooo glad for everyone that has pulled through and is doing so well!! But I have a question... Does anyone seem really depressed? I have always been a upbeat, motivational kind of person.... till NOW! I am 2 weeks out as of yesterday and boy am I really really emotional! I find myself crying a lot... The worst part is, I don't know why... I don't think its all about the food, because unlike a lot of new post ops... I can eat anything I can tolerate (that is the key word!!) My surgeons office doesn't do stages.... so believe it or not, I've had crab imperial, a peice of a plain cheesteak and even a slice of plain cheese pizza!! You'd think I'd be happy!!!! My husband is absolutely the greatest guy on earth, he can quite understand the crying, but trys so hard to make me feel good and is just awesome helping around the house and with the kids!! What is wrong with me? I walk around with a lump in my throat all the time.... I am going to my primary care doc on Monday.... I just wanted to see if there is anyone else out here feeling the blues as bad as I do..... I didn't expect to feel sooo sad.... Thanks for listening.... Jess

I'm right there with you. Cry at the drop of a hat...ugghhh. Definately not me. And I too seem to have a lump in my throat. I'm hoping it is all in my head and not really something wrong. I will find out Thursday. With the Holidays in full swing that might have a lot to do with the feelings. And being so darn tired doesn't help. You'll get through this. We will get through this. Keeping you in my thoughts. Hang in there hun. ~Tiffany

You are all normal!!! Your hormones as well as mine...are "freaking out".... I hope it gets better soon. My period is late and it freaked me out enough to do a pregnancy test...and thankfully it was negative. I know that my body is just trying to stablize. I am sick on top of it. I have not been sick in over a year and a half and go figure 5 weeks post op, I am sick. Plus we are getting ready to move to California, and the movers will be here on Monday. We don't have a house yet where we are moving to, so we don't even know where we are going to be living. So needless to say, I am a basket case! Can you hear the PMS???? Hang in there ladies....it will get better. Just give it a couple more weeks. Really.

I've been feeling that way too, and it occurs to me that it might be kind of like the post-holiday let down. This big, life-changing event that we've been focusing on for so long is done and over with, and we're left with the day-to-day routine of life. One of the other reasons I've felt a lump in my throat lately is the gratitude I feel for the opportunity to benefit from this. I am so grateful that I (will) have my life back! That of course, comes with some regrets - why not sooner, why me, - I'm sure you all know all the lines. Basically, I agree that there is a lot going on - holidays, hormonal changes (I was so glad that I had read that another gal's period started early. That way I didn't freak when mine did as well...), post surgery let down, adjustment to a whole new lifestyle... IT WILL GET BETTER! I know this isn't an issue with you, Jessica, since you are eating whatever you can tolerate (this is me green with envy...) but I've marked on my calendar the day (February 18th) when I will be back on "regular" food. It's given me something to focus on, another major event in my life to get me through the routine of the day to day stuff until then... Becky, hang in there! Nothing like loading on the stress factors in one short time period, eh?

Hi, same thing happened to me. I was crying at the drop of a hat. It's extremely annoying and frustrating, which leads to more tears. I spoke with my surgeon about it and was told that it is very normal and it's like having post-partum depression after having a child. Basically the body releases a tremendous amount of adrenaline and post op that adrenaline bottoms out, which leaves us feeling depressed. Once we get active again, exercise, get out and socialize those feelings begin to diminish. I started walking again and it seems to have helped me 100%! Good luck, Laura

Hi Jess, My name is Emely and I feel the same way you do. I had surgery done on November 24th and even though i"m doing great cause i have lost 65 pounds already I feel like crying all the time. Lucky for you that you have a husband that understand your blues cause mine is having a really hard time with it and that is making me more sad. Anyway I dont know why it happens but I can tell you your not alone cause I feel exactly the same way, and I assure you is not about the food either. I could be taking a hot bath to relax and suddenly i just start crying and I don't even know why. Anyway just pray to god to give you strenght cause eventually it will go away. Good Luck A friend, Emely Genao

Hi, Jess (and my fellow Delawarean...) I must have missed your original post, hon... But don't fret...we are ALL going through the same thing! At times, I will just become overly emotional and weepy. Take for instance, my daughter's Christmas Concert the other night. I was just BAWLING while they were singing, it sounded so beautiful. (Well, it didn't help that they sang, 'Christmas Shoes', either!) Geez, I'm getting chills just thinking about it again. Anyhow, I kept having to quietly sneak my hand up and wipe the corners of my eyes. My daughter (age 13 going on 20) would have been mortified had her friends seen me! (kidding) We're all normal! Things will get better, don't worry! Give that guy of yours a great big hug and tell him how much you love him!!!! (((hugs))) -Karen
