I am 4 weeks post op and I am exausted. I think it is because I am eating so little. I can tolerate things for a few days and then they make me nauseous. Milk is out. Yogurt, a little fish, peanutbutter (but in micro amounts), cottage cheese and water. I have been drinking 48oz of water a day. Then yesterday I can't get more then a few sips in. Even my pills are starting to make me gag. I am taking my multi vitamin, b12 and calcium with my regular prescription. Any suggestions would be helpful. Also does anyone know what the signs of strictures are? Samantha

I am not sure I know everything about Strictures...so I can't help you there. However, I am just a few days ahead of you and I can pretty much eat anything. Well, there is a lot I haven't tried, but meat wise...I know what works and what doesn't. I would think you should be able to eat more by now. (although I don't know which surgery you had). Have you called your surgeon? Also, I just started taking vista vitamins. www.vistavitamins.com or actually I ordered them from www.bariatriceating.com Anyway, they have a chewable. You would take 5 of them a day, and it has all the calcium, b-12, and everything else you can think of in them. After you can move on to regular pills, they come in 4 vitamins in the morning and 4 at night. I didn't know if I would be able to take them, but 1 month out, I have no problems with taking them. I would really call your doctor, and see what he/she thinks. For all I know, I am not normal....I just can't tell anymore. I know this isn't much help, but hang in there!

hiya i too have major problems getting my vitamins down. i gag and then refuse to try and retake them. i get dizzy and faint often. my dietician said its because i am not taking my vitamins and getting my protein in. it is so hard when nothing sounds good or tastes good. i completely understand about the energy level. i went back to work exactly 2 weeks after having an open rny done and i thought i was going to die the first week. all i want to do is slep and lay in bed. i dont think its depression it is truly physical. but everyone keeps telling me that afer 4-6 weeks everything starts to change and we will notice a big difference every day there after. and as far as strictures, you vomit everything..whether it be water or food. i cant drink milk anymore either and i used to love a big cold glass of it. i mainly eat cheese sticks, cottage cheese, litle bites of fruit and beans. i tried wendys chili the other day and i mainly eat the beans, and liquid. i can tolerate the meat in small amts. maybe you should try some? it would be a new flavor that might excite your taste buds?! just a suggestion. i wish you the best of luck markita marie open rny 11-11-03~~minus 43 lbs

I can usre understand that. I have most of those same problem, but I don't even get to do solids at all until Thursday. I'm scared that when I do I won't be able to handle them. I haven't had solids since October 30th. I am nauseous most of the time and have a hard time getting down my CIB and liquids. I take chewable vitamins until Thursday when they will let me start to swallow my meds again. I too was wondering if it was a stricture or if it was all in my head. Oh, well. Only 2 more days until I get to give solids a try...YEA!!! Good luck. ~Tiffany
