Hello everyone. I am reading the posts on this page about people trying cheesecake, chick filet and other yummies. I cant believe it. I had a tiny bite of salmon grilled with oil on it (the Cheesecake Factory Restaurant did not listen to my request to cook the fish dry) and I threw up for 2 hours. How is everyone stomaching all this different food? Did anyone get dumping syndrome from trying things with sugar.? I am 23 days post op and I am 30 pounds down. It sounds on line with how everyone else is doing but I am so strict with my food. I guess I am a little jealous.

I guess I have been very lucky so far. I have tolerated everything well. One time i ate 2 sugar free candys too fast and felt ill. But other than that, I try it, it works, halleleujah!! I am not eating chik fil a regulary (especially since the nearest one is 130 miles away!!LOL) and I am not eating fast food either. But I am trying things here and there. I am very conscious about the protein factor as well. I eat soft, protein-y, low fat (usually) food. I go to fitday.com to track my intake. Sorry to hear you aren't tolerating things well. Have you tried anything else, like refried beans, tuna, etc? Or are you at that stage yet? Well good luck to you, and don't be jealous, one day, I may think I have tolerated something for a month and bam I get dumping syndrome! (YIKES!!) Take care! Kristen

Are you sure it wasn't the oil that made you sick?? Just a thought. The only two thing that have made me sick (although I haven't had any sugar items), has been steak and pork chops. Now, obviously I didn't have some hugh pieces. They were tine pieces of each. However, I think the tougher "meats" just did not agree with me...and up they came! Other wise I have been lucky. I eat egg beaters for breakfast. At lunch I try to eat tuna with a little ff mayo or deli meat and cheese. Dinner is the only time I have any carbs, and it's just a tiny bit. I can't eat a lot at all. Which I am glad. The only thing I can't do is my protien supplements. I hate them all. I have some more samples to still try, but I need to work myself into trying them. It gets easier. You just have to go slow. If something doesn't work for you now, it doesn't mean it never will. Just give it a few weeks and try it again. You are doing great!

You aren't the only being strict. The only "yummy" I've had is jalapeno pepper (no calories, fat, sugar or carbs). That's about it. I wouldn't dare eat anything with sugar! Not yet.

I haven't tried anything with sugar yet, so I don't know if I dum*****t, but I don't want to know!!! It's amazing how quickly having a bit here and a bit there can add up, before I know it, I'd be back eating a 1lb bag of peanut m&m's over the course of several hours. I NEVER want to be back at that point. I'm eating soft proteins for the most part. Still having a really hard time with my protein drinks... they just don't sit right. The only carbs I get are from some cooked veggies (can't eat much of that) and my daily glass of apple juice.

I also started introducing food to my new pouch at 3 weeks Post-Op and so far everything has gone down well. Once in a while things feel like they are getting stuck and I have to wait for the feeling to pass but I think it's because I ate too fast and too big of a bite but all in all I have tried, meatballs, chili, steak, sausage, chicken, turkey even a hot dog and mixed nuts, it all worked out. Chicken can be a problem so it has to be eaten slowly and chewed well especially white meat it tends to be a little dry. If something doesn't sit right I would wait and try it another time. I haven't tried sweets and try to stay away from the carbs and track my in take on fitday.com also. Dar
