Hi everyone. My surgery was open and it was on the 13th. My incision is still healing and my energy levels are very low. When do we start to feel better? I don;t wanna walk, I don't wanna do anything but sit or lay on the couch. I can't even get up enough energy to read a book. The dog does not seem to understand this and he brings me toys constantly to throw for him. Sweet boy he is. I sleep about 11 hours a day. My incision is still sore and has like hard spots under it. I am told this is normal but it is irritating. I have lost about 26# since surgery. Am trying to get in at least 60 grams of protein a day. I just wanna know when to expect that energy everyone seems to talk about. I am down to 339# now and feel good about the loss but I just wanna feel like doing something besides vegitating yanno? Any ideas?? merry merry

I have heard that after about a month you feel a lot mroe energy. I am 4 weeks and 2 days out and still waiting!! I need a nap after any activity! Take care, Kristen

You had your surgery the same day that I did. I have been doing things, only because I have to. Taking the kids to school. picking them up, etc (because dh went back to work and works 1st shift). I have been getting my walking in (1 1/2 - 2 miles) but I am still always so exhausted. I feel so lazy. At like 6pm I'm like is it bedtime yet? I sure hope this energy thing kicks in soon. Let me know... ~Tiffany

You may want to start taking your b-12 vitamins that the Dr. reccomends. They will help out a lot with your energy!

Thanks for the replys! I will try the B-12. Boy I wish I could walk 2 miles a day. My back and knees will not allow it. Maybe when I lose some more weight that will get better. merry merry

I had my surgery on 11/17/03. I began driving on 12/1/03 and that helped me to feel better. Some days I have a lot of energy and others I have none. I've done 6 hours of Christmas shopping on two days but there are other days when I get up and then take a four hour nap later in the day. The Doctors say this is normal due to all the changes in food intake and medication. I'm down from 7 diabetes pills a day to one and am off (temporarily at least) blood pressure medication. I cannot do a mile of walking yet but I at least try to get out on nice days and do some walking in the community or at the mall. I am scheduled to return to work on 1/9/04 but am going to ask for an extension to 2/1/04. I have the time and a rotten boss so I'd rather rest than be uncomfortable. By the time I go back I'll be 61!
