Hi, my November buddies!! So...anybody try some turkey? I have to tell you that I cooked the whole Thanksgiving meal this year...for just my daughter and hubby...and the only thing I didn't take a nibble of at the table was the candied yams, the cranberry sauce, the crescent rolls and the pecan pie. I thoroughly enjoyed cooking everything...the house smelled wonderful. And I'm happy to report the the little bites I took (and chewed thoroughly!!) went down well and have stayed well. Of course, I checked and rechecked labels of what I prepared, just to be on the safe side. I was FULL after just a few bites, though. (Can you imagine??? On THANKSGIVING day, a day I would normally STUFF myself to oblivian!) And initially, I was scared to 'mix' the foods together...have never done that before (since the 4th). I'm so excited... a whole new world beyond tunafish! lol Of course, the fav leftover turkey sandwiches are totally out of the question... But that's OK...I'm so happy with this milestone! Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!!!! (((hugs))) -Karen

Karen, you sure were brave cooking all of that. My husband is out of the country, and the kids begged for Turkey TV Dinners! Can you believe that? So that's what we had. I had one bite of turkey, one bite of stuffing, one crescent roll and a bite of cherry pie. It only took me like 1/2 hour to eat it all! But boy was I stuffed! I am only two weeks out, and started on soft foods this morning. Scrambled eggs (egg) and 1/4 piece of toast. Tasted like heaven!!! Hopefully by Christmas it will be easier for me to cook everything! Congratulations on making it through! --Tammy Pearce

i am 2 weeks post op (11-11) all i could manage was 1 oz of baked sweet potato and 1/2 oz of turkey. i watched everyone eat and eat and strangely enough, it almost made me sick! i almost had ill feelings towards them and how they looked shoving all that food into their heads?!?! it was really weird. the only thing i reeeeally miss is the bubbliness of a coke and something crunchy. i have to make myself eat which is really bizarre.. but all in all, for only being 2 weeks out, i have lost 37 pounds and am already starting to see food in a different light markita marie

Well, considering I came home from the hospital the day before T-day, I thought I did very well with TWO separate T-day meals. (hahaha). Just so you know; I did enjoy my Carnation Instant Breakfast and Lipton instant soup. They tasted just like turkey... HAHAHAHAHA!!

Hi everyone. I am 5 weeks out and had a little turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and beans. Now mind you all of this fit on a tea cup saucer size dish I had to lauph. I put my plate against my brothers and made the comment-- before surgery, after surgery. His is what mine would have looked liked last year... not a speck of plate showing. Everything stayed down abd I am doing great!

I ate AND survived! I had about an ounce of white turkey breast, a small spoonful of mashed potatos, and a small spoonful of this brocolli cheese stuff my aunt makes. It took me about 45 minutes to fini**** I was ill watching everyone gorge on food. I kept thinking about how far I've come so quickly, and how I would have been right next to them stuffing my face had I not had this surgery. I realized how much I really ENJOY food now as opposed to just inhaling it. Eating slower allows me to really taste the food. Everything went down well with the exception of a bite of turkey which I didn't chew enough. I thought I was having a heart attack waiting for that bite to go down. My chest hurt so bad. Needless to say I learned my lesson that day. April -30 lbs 11/11

Hi Hope! I ate too on Thanksgiving, but just like you. I had little bits of chicken, yams, shrimp, etc. and was even able to have a bite of pumpkin cheesecake. It was wonderful to feel full and satisfied on such a small amount of food. I'm sure that Xmas will be similar. Happy Holidays to you!!
