Surgery Date Nov 21st --> Gall Bladder Removal as well?
Kelly,
I had my gallbladder out when I had my surgery on the 4th. It was done lap and I was told that it would not effect my recovery at all. Not having any prior experience to base off of I am guessing that everything is going normal. My surgery took 3 hours to do both the RNY and gallbladder. I was home from the hospital after 2 days and now coming up on 2 weeks I feel great, except for getting tired more easily.
I am actually happy to have my gallbladder out now. I have spoken to a few people that had to have a second surgery to remove it once they lost a lot of weight. Now I don't have to worry about it.
Hope this helps. Good luck to you!! Megan
Kelly,
I still have my Gall Bladder. I talked to my surgeon about it and he said the research he had done says if the Gall Bladder is OK, leave it alone. He looked at it during the surgery and he said it was fine. I am going to start taking Antigaul as soon as I can start taking pills.
Now, if they take it on your surgery date, it's just one less thing you ever have to worry about. I also hear it's not uncommon for the surgeon to remove it at the time of surgery.
I guess I didn't have much choice and it sounds like you don't either. You will do great! Don't be nervous!
Kelly, I had my surgery on 11/03/03and gallbladder removed at the same . I was a little reluctant because i didnt think there was anything wrong with my gallbladder because i had never had any problems before, but I do have family history of people have gallstones and I do know that thye are very painful and i dont want to ever experience that. It was optional for me but i decided to go ahead and get it out now.
