Dumb ladies question..
Okay this may sound really dumb, but I just HAVE to know. As luck would have it, I believe my cycle will begin this weekend. Now, don't know how to say this so I'll just say it...Do you get to wear panties when you have surgery? Or are you buck nekked??!!! Seriously, though what happens when you're menstrual and have surgery. What do you do about the pad??? As you can guess this my first major surgery so I just don't know what to expect?
very good question! I know that quite a few friends of mine started in the hospital. (whether it was time or not) Not sure how they dealt with it.
I am sure that after surgery, the aid will help you put on panties. No problem. I dont know how they deal with it during surgery though...cause I had to go in with ONLY the gown on.
I'm sure they have dealt with this subject a bazillion times. If you don't find your answer here or in the library here, you may want to call your surgeons ofice and ask one of the nurses on his staff. They can find out for you.
Good luck! Kristen
Hey ladies.....been there, done that. I was on my cycle when I had my surgery. Yes, it was a little embarrassing, but they acted like it was no big deal. They gave me some mesh panties, and a pad when I changed into my gown, prior to surgery. And after surgery when I got to my room, all I know is they were gone....LOL, but the nurse was nice enough to put a pad between my legs for me. Tampons are a big NO, NO, they will not let you where them. My girlfirend, who is as skinny as a rod said..."just wear a tampon and puck the string up in to your butt cheeks and they will never know....I thought I would die laughing....needless to say, that is not a very good idea, and probably not safe considering you will be drugged and won't probably remember that it is there....anyway, hope that helps you....good luck and I'll see you on the other side.....Kathryn
I had my surgery last Friday and nothing was getting in my way. As luck would have it I got my dear that morning. The staff was cool, you give a urion sample and mixed with blood is fine ( sorry but sometimes blunt is better). Then you get these small disposable panties to hold a pad in place.(one size fits all and the larger they are they seem to resemble a thong. Hey I am heading for the losing side and now start it by trying thongs). I have read in other profiles that something about the surgery shortens your cycle and it did mine.(In Friday morning and out by Sunday evening) Then you are taken back to surgery and from that point you remember nothing. You have a catherder done after you are out. The nurses are very professional. They will change you until you can do it yourself. (sometime the evening of the surgery). I was so out of it that I could have cared less. As soon as I could walk I requested the desposable panties and wore them catherder and all. From that point on business as usual. There is nothing to fear or be embarassed about. If you have given birth, it's similiar feeling. There are things that people see during birth that are not normally for other's viewing pleasure and it is not a big deal.
