More hospital tips please
lRhonda ... here's a thread that may be of help ... http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/surgdate-forums/11-2003/postdetail/1114.html?viewCmp=0#1114
I was very hot the first two days of my surgery. I knew I should have brought a little fan, but I didn't have one.
Also, chapstick is so vital! Comfy pj's of your own. I would bring a couple of your own pillows (just my opinion). I had my husband stay with me the entire time and because hospital food is so expensive, we brought a bunch of little microwave things that he was able to go and heat up for his meals. Also some snacks for him. (I was worried about him).
A cell phone if you have one.(ask your nurses if they will allow you to have one, my hospital didn't mind if it was in my room).
non-slip/slip on slippers
baby powder. The little things they put on your legs that inflate and deflate (to help prevent blood clots) made my legs itch...and my husband would put some on my legs every now and then to help.
A BACk SCRATCHER!!!!! let me say it again...A BACK SCRATCHER!!!!. I would itch all the time and I could never reach my itches. My husband spent more time itching my itches!
Those are the main things I can think of for now. I hope that helps.
I read that tongs and baby wipes would be helpful for your personal hygiene and I certainly was glad I took mine as you can't bend over well enough to do that. I kept my room very cool and still got so hot the first couple of days. a small fan would of been nice. Main thing is take a positive attitude with you and you will do fine. you might also want to take your own bed pillow from home.
