I'm making a list of things to take to the hospital ... here's what I have so far: chapstick, hand lotion (tiny bottle), sugar free lifesavers, slip on shoes, bathrobe (one that zips up the front or buttons ... no pullover the head ones), my CPAP (per doctor), a comfy pair of slacks and blouse or a dress to wear home (be sure you have nothing form fitting because of the incision), a back scratcher (from my support group, everyone gets one as a pre-op gift), a brush, deodorant, toothbrush & paste, my durable power of attorney for medical, copy of my referral authorization, copy of my medical card, and ????????? Any other ideas of have to haves? I can't believe it is only 8 days from now. Mary

I'm taking baggy underware (oversized), pads just in case, a book to entertain my husband, 5 dollar bills for the vending machines (again, for husband) and three pairs of socks (my feet always get cold). Otherwise, I've got everything you got... One more week to go!

I have everything you listed, Mary, plus a disposable camera ( for pics of me in those lovely hospital gowns..LOL ), my own pillow ( to help me sleep ), a calling card ( the hospital that I am going to does not allow cell phones ) and wet wipes for the restroom ( don't know if they have them at the hospital or not ). I, like the rest of you, am anxiously awaiting my surgery date on November 12th! What a grand month this is!! ~Sharla

Don't forget to pack a pillow or large teddy bear to hug on the way home. It will make the "bumps" in the road less painful. It will support your tummy muscles so you don't move around so much.

I am bringing everything you are except I am bringing a portable cd player and some music that makes me want to get up and move (more inspiration for the walking I will have to do).I am also bringing an undershirt so the binder don't rub against my incesion.

Wow, I can't stop saying that. I am having LAP done on 11-12-03, and I haven't packed a thing either. I have been busy cleaning out my bedroom, dusting, cleaning of my old book shelf, and GETTING MY SUMMER CLOTHES PACKED AWAY FOR GOOD!!! Next year all new ones, no more 24/26!!! I would love to be able to once be able to buy clothes from a regulare store instead of the Plus Size stores. Don't get me wrong, I greatly appreciate stores who cater to the larger sizes. But, I would love to just go window shopping and see an outfit and say wow, they do have it in my size. Yipeeee! Judy Holt see ya on the losing side!
