I'm planning on getting my protein and vitamins before surgery so that I'm not freaking out trying to get that accomplished afterwards. Has anyone done this yet, and if you have, what did you buy? Have you tried any proteins yet? Anyone try the fruit nectar???

I have picked up chewable childres vitamins so far. My sister who also had this surgery gave me like 3 containers of protein that she did not like,s o I will try them myself after the surgery. That is about it so far. I'm ready for surgery....November 4th!

I've been drinking the protein shakes for about 2 weeks now. I am adding sugar free coffee syrups to them. I have also been taking the chewable vitamins and the tums with calcium for about a week. Today I am going shopping for all the food items I'll need. Surgery is in ONE week! yikes! As for the protein shakes I have tried Carb Solutions which only has 22 grams of protein in a serving and Pro Complex, which has 55 grams of protein in a serving!! It tastes kind of vitamin-y but it is worth it to get all that protein in one drink! We'll see how I feel about it after surgery! You can get pro complex online. I also bought a protein powder that you can add to food. It is supposed to be flavorless and just mixes right into your food. I haven't tried it yet though.

I've been taking vitamins for months. I used the Andrew Lessman vitamins. They are capsules. I checked with the manufacturer and they safely can be opened and added to water or food. I also made sure that I could put them whole into a blender whole so I could add them to protein shakes. Works great. I also have been doing protein shakes the last couple of months since my surgeon asked me to lose an additional 20 lbs (total of 46) by my pre-op tomorrow. I like the Met-Rx Butter Pecan powder and apple nectar by Syntrax powder. My surgeon requires a full liquid diet for 4 to 6 weeks following surgery. Mary

I have been taking vitamins for months, I take Women's One-A-Day, 1000 mgs of calcium, and 325 mg ferrous sulfate 3 times a day due to low iron problems. I will be changing to the chewable Vista Vitamins post surgery. As for the protein I have been drinking Nectar as meal replacements for breakfast and lunch and ABSOLUTELY love them!! My surgeon recommends Pro-Complex, which in my humble opinion is DISGUSTING!! I just sent away for samples of the Proplete hoping to get some variety!

I take a multi-vitamin every day to begin with. However, I will be getting Vista Vitamins. I will order their chewable ones later this week. Then after a month I will switch to their "regular" vitamins. I have also sent out for samples of protien shakes, one of which is the different fruit nectar ones.

I had my pre-op appointment yesterday and go for lab work today. Surgery is on Tuesday, my Doctor's office supplied me with everything I need for a while after surgery ($82.00) so I will be starting my protein shakes and chewable vitamins and chewable calcium when I get back from labs today.
