Date: Nov. 5 anyone else?

Hi WLS friends: My date is just around the corner. Anyone else November 5? I have been having a lot of anxiety because I have not had surgery before. I started reading a book called Surgery and Recovery, How to reduce anxiety and promote healthy healing. Great book!

You will be fine. Keep lots of positive thoughts going and keep busy between now and surgery date. This will be my 2nd surgery, my first was the gall bladder removal a few years ago. I kept telling myself that I could sleep thru the whole thing and that sure helped. It was such a "high" when I woke up in my room and knew it was all over. Sending you lots of hugs and good wishes. I am on the 5th as well! You are the first person on here who I have seen with 11/05. Just saying it is LESS THAN 2 WEEKS away gets me excited! That book sounds great. I have never had surgery before either. Nothing this big atleast. I mean I have had a surgery before but it was a minor, in the office type of thing... anyway I have never been 'under' and that scares me. I think what I am most scared of is pain. Pain from shots, IV's, starting IV's, recovery wound pain, drain pain, nasogastric (NG) tube pain, etc. That is what I am really afraid of. But I have seen MANY MANY people survive this and live to tell about it, so we will be just FINE! Take care, Kristen

Hi, Michelle I also have the 5th as my date. I'm so excited and still a little scared. I too have not had any major surgery but I'm very comfident in my surgeon so that helps a great deal. I also have a full body 1hour massage scheludled for the 4th. My reasoning is it works any other time to relax me why not before my Lap. Stay in touch and we will compare stories! I'm 43 and 296. Have at least 150 to loose. Hope all goes well , see ya on the other side. Kim
