November 20th Surgery and Airline Problems

I have my surgery scheduled for November 20th. Although I live in Dallas, Texas, I am having the surgery performed in Augusta, Georgia. I selected Augusta for several reasons. My parents, sister, and most of my other relatives live there. Also, I am a self-pay and was able to get the surgery done there a lot cheaper. I am really upset. I just called Delta Airlines. I am on oxygen 24 hours a day, and I called Delta to find out what arrangements could be made for me to have the oxygen to and from Augusta on their airline. They told me I couldn't bring my own, which was no surprise. However, they said I would have to use their oxygen and it was $100 a bottle. I told them this was highway robbery since I only pay $12 a cylinder for mine. They also said they have no oxygen provisions from Atlanta to Augusta. I'm not sure what I will do now. Has anyone had any similar problems? Thanks! --Glenda

Glenda, is there any other airline you can fly on to get to Augusta? Then Or another airlines from Atlanta to Augusta? I went to map quest and it shows that it is a 2 1/2 hour drive. Could someone in your family pick you up at the Atlanta airport? Could you hire a driver (most limo services also rent towncars with drivers)? If you hire a driver, you would have to work out something for the oxygen at the airport then to Augusta. Any chance there are any airport shuttle services from Atlanta to Augusta? Just trying to come up with some ideas for you. I agree with you that the cost for the oxygen really seems high. What a shame that they jack up the prices. Think positive, where there is a will there is a way. It can and will work out. Sending you hugs and prayers. Mary
