Get more protein in your diet. You must have at least 60 grams daily. When I try to do it without powder I never seem to make it to 60 or above. Try making a daily ledger of what you eat. See how many calories, carbs and how much protein you are getting. I add protein powder to skim milk and carnation instant breakfast, and at other times i add protein powder to sugar free instant pudding. Good luck & be patient. Louise Gilman

Topic: RE: slow loss
I havn't had that problem but am still slower than some. The key is to be sure to have at least 60 grams of protein daily. What has helped me is to keep a food journal. watch and record calories, carbs and protein. Keep the calories near or under 800 and do high protein. I mix protein powder with sugar free pudding and skim milk. Very filling, tastes fine, low calories, yet am getting good protein. Above all, don't loose the faith!!!!!!!!! Louise Gilman

Topic: RE: Anyone Else Going Through This???
Yes I have gone through it and a girl I know also went through it. From what i hear, everyone goes through it. Start writing down your calorie, carb, & protein intake. Be sure you are getting at least 60 grams daily. When I stopped losing weight I stopped & realized that I was not getting the protein. Without the protein you will have great difficulty losing. I do a protein powder & put it in sugar free pudding or mix with skim milk and carnation instant breakfast. Be patient. We took years to gain all this weight. If it takes a bit to loose it it will still be worth it all. Louise Gilman

Stacy, You are doing great. Everyone looses at their own pace. Never get discouraged. Be sure you are getting at least 60 grams of protein daily. At one point I was not getting it and my weight loss stopped. When I got back to doing the protein, the weight loss continued. Good Luck to you. Louise Gilman

Hi everyone. My name is Stacy. I had surgery 11/11/02 and was glad to find this group and see the there are other people going through the same as me with the plateaus. At over 7 months out, I've lost 137 lbs. to date. I have got a LOOOONG way to go and I truly feel like this is going to be it for me. My starting weight was 452 lbs. and now at 315 lbs. I have been between 315 and 320 since the end of May. I saw my surgeon last week and he says not to worry, but he didn't go through what I went through. Anyway, I've read all of your ideas and I plan on increasing my exercise routine by 1/2 hr a day, and going from little carbs, to absolutely none at all, up my water another 20 oz./day and see if that helps.
