9 days out and missing food

I must be healing too fast because I miss eating! I drink and drink and drink but the smell of food drives me crazy and I seem to developed a great sense of smell since the surgery. I'm practically a hound dog. I'm trying to be light hearted about it but today is a mental struggle.

I was on clear liquids two days prior to surgery and three days after. I will start pureed foods on the 19th for two weeks. Soft chopped for two weeks. Then normal eating.

I have not had any nausea at all but I'm worried about the pureed stage. Anyone else in this boat or now in the pureed stage?

I had surgery on the 5th and I have developed a great sense of smell also. I started taking advantage of it though. I never used to cook. I HATED IT!!! Now, I have been cooking everyday and enjoying the smells of the food and enjoy watching my family eat healthy new things that taste good and SMELL GOOD!!! I know this might be weird but it works for me :) I'm going to go bake now that my whole family is down for a nap! Good Luck!!!

Oh and I planned my meals in advance already. I know What I'm eating for the 1st couple days of the pureed stage So I have something to look forward to.

I have those days where I miss food as well.  But I keep telling myself that this is just the beginning of my journey and eventually I will be able to eat normal food but limited which I am fine with.

I had my gastric sleeve surgery October 1st and I am on the stage of puree food today was 5th day as like you I have had no nausea until now.  It is a bit tough for me with the puree food but I figure my stomach is getting use to it....0nce I feel nauseaus I just stop eating.  I keep saying to myself it will get better which it will...So hang in there you are not alone.

I too am like a hound dog.  I try to mentally monitor it out in public so I don't sniff other people's food!  I think it is hilarious!  The family is used to it.  It has become a game where I guess what ingredients their food has in it.  Oh well, gotta laugh about it!

I did not have any problems until I hit the soft food stage.  I guess I am trying to eat too many things too quickly as all of a sudden I started vomitting my food back.  So now I am back on my favorite puree's and trying to get the pouch to chill out.  I am hoping by tomorrow I will be able to start eating again.  I can't tell if it is too much, too fast, too much variation, or what started the problem but I guess it is a lesson that everyone learns with our new pouches.  It decides.
hehehe

I know I learned my lesson.  Slow changes.

These are great insights. I keep saying I am in the learning stage of the process since so much has changed and I am always learning. I am still in the pureed stage until Tuesday and I have been slow going. I have only had one issue with nausea when I tried a bite of scrambled eggs. I have been lucky. I am still doing chewables since I just can imagine this little pouch taking on so many pills per day. I want things to just flow through. I do take the Actigall in capsule form since it tastes so horrible. Thanks for your support. I don't know what I would do without everyone from OH.com!

Hi, I had a sleeve on 10/29 and I'm still on clear liquids (hopefully tomorrow move to mushies!)  My husband made frozen pot pies for him and the kids and it smelled SO GOOD!  I told him he has to take them out for dinner until I can eat again (LOL!)  It's more challenging than I have thought.  On the upside I lost 15 pounds the first week--I think I've already hit a stall but I know that's to be expected as our bodies adjust.  And I had a dream about a grilled cheese sandwich....
