Topic: RE: Haven't lost anything in 12 days, anyone else?!?!
Girl I know all about hiding that crazy scale!  I do good for several days then get on and get disapointed!  I try to tell myself the same thing about it not coming off overnight but it was nice to loose so much at first and then it totally stalls!!  I'm glad to have this site to lean on others going through exactly what I'm going through!  I haven't even been able to do the exercising at all except I'm just now getting around in a store without a motorized cart so to me that a HUGE leap forward so I'm praying it'll go faster now that I can get out and walk a little more.  I can't wait for that.  I got pneumonia the day after surgery and had to stay in the hospital for 4 more days and they said that would set me back some but I had NO idea now much!  But thank God I'm doing much better now!  I'm feeling and seeing a change to so I should be so happy with that, right!  Well hang in there and we'll get through this new life together!    Have a great rest of the weekend and week!  I have my 6 week post op this coming Friday and then I'll get released to do real exercises and I'm very excited about that for the first time EVER!!

Topic: RE: different kind of pain
I have this same pain. My doctor explains to me that this is where the largest, most invasive incision occured...where they put in the stapler.  This is also the only place where I have an internal "stitch" will eventually dissolve and heal.  I was in agony for a while, but I'm 5 weeks out now, and it is starting to feel better.  I find that at the end of the week, it hurts a bit, especially if I sit too long.

I had it too about a week out.  I walked more and it went away.  I think mine may have been gas, as the walking took care of it.  I don't mean a long walk, just down my street and back again. I am on my 2nd week and am starting to feel human again.  Just tired, and not too much energy.  I have already lost 25lbs, that I find overwhelming.

Topic: RE: i have a new date
Congrats on your date.  Don't worry about Thanksgiving food, you won't be hungry, and you will be on clear liquids so there will not be any overeating for you.  I have been so amazed that there has not been one hunger pain since my surgery 10/28.  I have a hard time getting 2oz of food in so if you are having RNY I think you should not concern yourself with the over eating.  Only be thankful your journey has begun and you are on the road to health and happiness.

Jeanne - I know what you mean about the head hunger. I had a strong bout of head hunger my 2nd week post-op. I wanted a cheeseburger, well at least I thought I did!  lol It got better once I moved on to pureed foods the 3rd week.

Adatex - I had lap RNY 10/13 and I found that walking helped with the gas. Just remember to sip sip sip and it's best to think of food as survival and another aid in your weight loss journey. I'm almost 4 weeks out and I don't get hungry, but I know it's part of my daily schedule. Good luck to you!

I understand your frustration, I'm at the point were my weight loss stalled. I lost 17 lbs in the first 2 weeks, but have only lost 2 additional pounds in the last 2 weeks. I "know" this is part of the process, but it's still a hard pill to swallow. I have to keep telling myself that I didn't gain this weight overnight and I'm surely not going to lose it overnight. I can definitely see a change in my body so maybe I'm losing inches. I'm getting my fluids and proteins and exercising like I should, I just need to be patient and hide the darn scale!  lol

Topic: RE: Oct 15th?
Hello Nurse Becki. Not only do I share the same surgery date with you, October 15th, but I am also a nurse. I work in oncology.  I had the lapband placed in Tijuana with Dr. Lopez Corvala. I cannot say enough about the care I received there.

What type of food are you eating at this point? How much weight have you lost. I am down about 10 lbs, and the scale has not budged in 5 days.

Topic: Lg. Swollen Area In Left Upper Quadrant of Abdomen. Area Hard Underneath
Hello. I had my lapband on October 15th in Mexico. All went very well. A few days after I got home I noticed a large lump (the size of my cupped palm) in the upped left quadrant of my abdomen. I called the surgeon and they feel it may be a seroma, a fluid filled area.

I have a Dr. who will be doing my fills. He examined me 7 days post-op, and also feels its a seroma. Both Drs. say that the fluid will reabsorb back into the body, but it will take time.

I noticed last night upon pressing on this area that the entire cupped palm size area is quite hard underneath. This hardness is not at the port area, but up and to the left of the port incision. Has anyone else ever had something like this? The large area of hardness underneath has me worried. When I look at my abdomen, this bulged area is very visible.

Any input or thoughts on this?
