Topic: RE: This Oct. 27th kiddo is home!

I had my lap-band surgery on Oct.26th. I was sent home the same day, wish they would have kept me. It was a ruff night sleep. But I am feeling stronger everyday as well, and feeling a little hungry today. That scares me.  What did your Dr. say about your diet for the first week?..Keep up the good recovery!

Topic: 4 hrs away from my new birthday
Well my friends, my new birthday has arrived.  I am expected to be at the hospital in 4hrs to get prepared for surgery at 8:30am.

I am so ready for this.  Surprisingly I am not nervous (yet..!!) we'll see as I start getting closer to my destination.

Please keep me in your prayers.  Looking forward to sharing this experience with the rest of you.

Any other October 27th people home?  I had my lap-band surgery on Tuesday morning and came home today.  Yep, I'm rather bloated like everyone else is after any lap procedure, but getting up and walking helps move the air around and out.  I'm tired and sore, but I'm glad the surgery's done now. I feel better today than I did yesterday, and I'm tickled to have that improvement.  Hope all of you are recovering well, too!
I'm proud to be a Geeky Mom, and read about it here (clicky)!

Unfortunately, my surgery was aborted. While i went through all the trauma of getting put to sleep, only to find out that my surgery was canceled. My surgeon said that my heart rate would go sky high then as low as in the 30's. So he cancelled my surgery. I was relieved in a since, but upset. I finally put the effort, in getting the surgery and it is cancelled.
I starting to wonder was this a sign not to get the surgery!

2 days out and I noticed it i rock, sway my hips, like you do when you are holding a newborn baby it seems to stir things up, I usually get some relief after 2-3 mins. That seems to be my main issue... and  that full feeling.Ugh.

Topic: RE: Any RNY'ers for this Friday????
I am this Friday as well. Did my pre-op today and boy did it make the surgery feel real for the first time. I am excited and scared at the same time. I have read all the posts but everyones experience is different so I am not sure what to expect. I hope you have an uneventful easy surgery with no pain. Let me know when you get home and how it went.

Topic: 3rd week out food Question

Hello everyone I am on my third week out and I refuse to eat anymore broth. I am pretty much doing ISOPURE and other protein throughout the day and try to eat pureed foods three times a day maybe an ounce or two. I just want see if everyone thinks my diet is okay right now.
Morning: This morning I had Egg beaters with a little bit of cheese mixed in them 2ounces
All day I had my isopure and protein shakes..although I know I am way behind in my protein intake.
Dinner : I pureed a turkey meatball and has a little bit of mashed potato - no butter or anything like that.
After I do eat I am immediately in the bathroom usually . Not sick vomitting but everything pretty much goes through me. I am still pretty tired sometimes and I know it is because I hate my vitamins..they taste horrible and I feel like I cannot take them all in or I am going to get sick.
Today I went to the market and got some more soups ...all following the rules of course. I was thinking about making shephards pie tomorrow for my husband the daughter and maybe try blending some up for me and adding some protein powder.
Now this is the crazy Question I needed to ask. The one thing that never makes me feel sick when I eat them are these veggie stix from the all natural food store. They are like healthy chip sticks I guess. 1oz is 130 cal fat 4 g and no sugar. I never have more than a couple because I fee llike I dont want to push anything but they seem to digest great and they melt right in your mouth. Is this okay?
Thanks everyone!

Yes! When I was pre-op I always thought I'd enjoy refried beans and cheese stage. Now I'm REALLY looking forward to it. I am enjoying low-sodium chicken and beef broth because it's the only thing that's not sweet. My vitamins, pepcid ac, and protein shake are all sweet but that icky  artificial sweet. The broth is a nice change.

Today is 5 days out and my clothes are feeling loose! I haven't weighed myself but I feel better already!

Topic: MIRACLE PROTEIN DRINKS YOU HAVE TO TRY!!!!
PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU ARE HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING YOUR PROTEIN IN!!!!  Okay so some of you might be experiencing this already and for those lucky few be so glad you aren't but the reg protein drinks I've been drinking I've gotten to the point where I'm actually gagging at the smell of them and haven't been able to get my protein in since the surgery because it's been so horrible.  I'd try everyday to get as much down as possible and it just wasn't getting better it kept getting less and less each day!  So when I went in for my 2 week post op at my dr's office he told me about this particular brand of protein mixes that he is selling in his office and I'm telling you these are totally my saving grace!!  So I had to tell everyone about it!  The brand is UNJURY and you can find them at www.unjury.com.  They have receipes and you can order it online to ship to your house.  I know I've gotten real sick of the sweet stuff and they even have a chicken soup broth flavor and I'm telling you it's sooooo good!!!!  The other one I bought was the chocolate and one of the girls that works for my dr had the surgery 4 years ago and she said she loves it in her decaf coffee and I'm telling you if you like coffee it's like a mocha coffee!  I just use the coffee with the scoop of chocolate and noting else is needed it's sweet and creamy!!  This whole protein thing has had me so down because I hadn't been able to get all my protein in everyday and since I got these last Friday it's been so wonderful to drink!  Oh and to me the best part is that there is literally NOOOOO after taste!!  That was a big one for me too, I don't know about you all but that was HUGE for me!  Well I hope this helps someone out there because I call tell you I wish I'd know about this sooner.  I knew that my dr sold protein shakes but I didn't think much of it till I went to my check up and told him about the hard time I was having.  He'd never made a big deal about it in all of my previous appts and I told him he REALLY needs to stress for ALL of his patients to try the brand he sells in the office!  I guess he's trying not to pu**** on people but I'm telling you after all of the ones I've tried and didn't like he totally needs to make a bigger deal about that brand of protein!  Let me know if anyone tries it!  I can't wait for you all to try them.  I haven't tried the other flavors yet but I tell ya I'm enjoying these so much I can't wait!
