Oct 28th Surgery Date - How will it affect my vacation?
My date has been scheduled (YAY) for the Roux-En-Y procedure for Wed, Oct 28th. I have anxieties about the procedure, but more so for recovery. We are planning on a week long trip to Las Vegas (via plane) on Tues, Nov 3rd. We're Vegas regulars so there won't be any sightseeing, just hanging around the hotel and casino, and if the weather holds out -- a little poolside sitting. My feeling is that I can recuperate just as easily there (and have more fun!) as at home. Changing our plans isn't really an option, and it would also mean I'd have to move my surgery to Christmastime -ACK- definitely not desirable. So, I'm hoping I will be able to pull this off...I take whatever shakes & meds I need, lots of comfy clothes and just rest in the desert, right?
I'm new to this, so I apologize if my post is out of line, but if it isn't too much trouble I wonder if anyone could share their opinions and any suggestions related to your own personal experience that will make this trip and recovery the best it can be.

My doctor won't let me travel for about a month - I'd be careful - are you traveling by plane or car? Does your doctor know? The problem with traveling is blood clots so I would take alot of breaks and walk around to help keep circulation. Hope you can still go...but I would definitely check with your doc....
I'm having surgery Oct 6th!!! I'm not scared and have a great peace for some reason - I'm sort of excited but still wondering if I'm doing the right thing - I vacillate between knowing and not knowing...its weird. I wish you the best of luck!!!
