Looks like 10/5 is it... I'm nervous and a bit scared.  My youngest (19) is spending a lot of time with me and I know that he is worried and that makes me feel like crap.  He wants this for me and was actually really mad when I have considered backing out but still, I'm a mom.  A parent never wants to be the cause of any worries for their kids.

I'm having an open RNY and I wish they didn't say that I'd be spending time in ICU.  It's just added to my level of anxiety...

The best of luck to you!  I'm sure it's difficult when your kids are old enough to understand what is going to be happening to you.  It sounds like your son is a great support and encouragement for you.  I know as a parent you never want to be the cause of anxiety in your child's life but just think of the rewards that both of you will gain from all that you are going through.

The term ICU is such a scary one. Try not to think of it like that...just think of the extra special care and attention you'll get there.  Like a place for VIP patients.  ; )

Good luck!

I am happy for you, and completely understand the mom thing.  My surgery is coming soon, and I have an 11 year old and an 8 year old.  However, they are young enough, that I can still talk them out of worrying.  As long as I am calm, they are happy.  Sweet how much he wants to take care of his mom now...... He sounds like he will be wonderful as you go through this.  Good for him for helping you stick to your guns...........
