I was absolutely blessed to be approved within just 2 days of submitting my paperwork to my insurance company (Cigna), and got a phone call from my clinic saying I was approved!

I can't wait to do this, I'm so excited, scared, you name it I feel it!!  My birthday is in late Oct, as well as my husband's birthday, and Halloween... the evil day of bypass patients!!  It will be an emotionally tolling month for us all with the birthdays and Halloween but we will do it, and I WILL survive!

This is perfect timing though... will be healed and into all of this just to be able to have a nibble at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners though!

Congrats to all of us and our wonderful journeys ahead!

I am very happy for you.  I read your story and I can understand your frustration during the whole process.

I am going to be banded on 10/02.  I have to lose 100lbs.  I chosed the band because is not as dramatic as the other surgeries.  I am hoping that I do not get the same complications you had.  I am in my 40's done with having children and now I am putting more interest in myself.

I will continue reading your postings and hope that everything goes well with your surgery.

Happy trails:)

I wouldn't worry about the band!  One thing I know is that the band works for some, not for others.  Like I said, it did 50% of the job for me.  My weight loss ended right at 18 months so please take that time to make sure you lose the most weight you can.  I don't bash the lap-band, I mean, it does what it is supposed too for most people, but you can cheat it really easy.  I chose the lap-band first because like you said, because it wasn't nearly as complex.  It was the right choice at the time, however sometimes I wish I had just gone back and done the RNY way back then.

The good thing about the band, is even though I only lost during the first 18 months, I maintained that loss for 2 1/2 additional years with no additional gain.  I did fight with the same 5lbs for those 2 1/2 years but I don't call that a gain really.

If you ever have any questions about the band, please ask away.  I can try to be as helpful as possible!  I am not biased towards any procedure and am open to any discussion!  I did have a really hard time with my band the last year and a half but I really have no hard feelings
