Congratulations on your surgery date.  My date is for November 19th.  I am not one bit afraid of the surgery itself.  It is after the surgery and the complete life change that I am a little nervous about but everyone tells me that is normal to fear the unknown.
The psych evaluation is nothing to worry about and in fact I found the questionnaire quite interesting as well as the visit with the psychologist himself.  There are just alot of questions that you will answer on paper by yourself.  That is just to make sure that you are ready and can handle a big decision like this.
If it was a long wait for you, then it is something that you REALLY want and GOD is just trying to help you walk through it.

Best of Luck to you.

Congrats on your date....that is awesome.  My surgery is 10/6 and I've been getting nervous too.  A friend of mine told me that when she has surgery, she changes the way she thinks a little to help her cope with it.  For example, she said that I should be thinking....a week from now, I'll be done with my surgery.  She said that helps her.  I've been trying to do that and it does help.  Yesterday I thought...in a week I'll be going home...YEAH!!  So things like that may help you.  Are you all ready for the surgery?  If not, start getting things you'll need for after.  That will help fill up some time.

I did my psych. eval. here in NY and had a lot of paperwork to fill out.  There was this huge questionnaire.  I also talked to the psych. too.  It was beneficial.  He pointed out some things that I wouldn't have even thought about.  I went back for a second visit and that was it.

Good luck to you.  Hang in there.

Kudos to your mom for being the better person and not stooping to their level.    I truly believe that what goes around comes around.  That person had no right to speak to your mom like that.    WTH!!!!!!!!!  Sounds like your mom has a great attitude and that has probably helped her tremendously.

Topic: RE: 6 month supervised diet ?

My program did not require 6 month's supervised, but does advocate health eating and weight loss while going through the required appointments. Our weight is taken at each Nut and MD visit.
It is a way of getting to know your body, being able to ask questions of the nut when you have those appointments and getting ready for surgery and your new relationship with food.
It has taken me 1 year to get from the 1st referral to surgery next Monday. I'm glad I had that time to deal with emotions, holidays, and really explore what I am doing.
If you can't eat healthily before surgery I would imagine it would be much harder after surgery. As they say it's not brain surgery, just a tool.

I havn't had surgery yet. However Im having it soon at the end of the month. Now my sister in law had the band done back last year. Now, she gave me some protein she had left over. It is at Costco- not to spendy.

EAS Protein w/ Whey.

Chocolate Flavor or Vanilla
I mix mine w/ milk or blend it for a shake like taste. It isn't bad at all!
