Topic: RE: Protein shake receipes - What's your favorite
It sounds like you could use a recipe. I had my surgery lap band 3-6-08.  My favorite recipe was

1 tablespoon Splenda or 1/2 packet
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
2 table spoons non fat dry milk powder-Carnation
7 ounces of silk milk
3 ice cubes of silk milk
2 1/2 tsp of whey or soy powder

Blend together in a bullet or blender and eat with spoon.

I also added a litte sf whip cream to top.  Your going to love this.

 Beginning Wt- / Wt Now / Goal Wt=  310 / 172 / 131
Revision to REALIZE Lap-band, 1st Fill 4/8/08 3 cc's in 9 cc band, Now 8 cc's in 9 cc band.

Topic: JUST started my 1 year program

The first time I started on Dec 6,2007 weighing in at 272 lbs. If I lost 10% I would probably not qualify.I didnt go throught the 1 yr program because I was depressed and thought that I wouldnt make it according to my height and weight.I went to my PCP on Oct 1, 2008 and weighed in at 287 lbs.....YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH when i lose 10% I will still qualify for surgery.I am going all the way this time.Anyone just starting a 1 yr program please contact me so we can follow and encourage one another.

Topic: Sticking to Pre-op diet - yikes!
Okay - I assume I can't be the only one out there that is having or had a VERY hard time sticking to the pre-op diet.  I am supposed to do a 14 day protein shake and lean chicken diet...........well, this has never been my strong area........I did good for 3 days and royaly messed up yesterday.  I now have 10 more days to go and don't know how I will keep to it.  I've heard that the 7 days prior to surgery are the most important so hopefully I can focus on sticking without any slip-ups for those days.

The whole point of having the surgery is to help with the amount of food, the types and to reduce those cravings........doing this pre-op is very hard.  I realize it is supposed to help prepare us mentally as well as physically, but what if I just can't stick to it so well?

So what I want to know is, what kind of pre-op diet did you do and for how long - also, be honest, did you really stick to it faithfully?  It seems there is a wide range - I know some friends of mine only had a 3 day pre-op diet.

Please respond - I'd really like to hear from others on this....
