My surgeon told me it was ok to buy the store brands, but I decided that since I am over 50 that Centrum silver chewables would be better for me.

Topic: RE: Sticking to Pre-op diet - yikes!
My surgery is Oct. 15th. This my 5th day on liquids. 3 protein meals a day, SF jello, broth, skim milk, and crystal light. Today I was under the calories and protein that I needed so I have to do better tomorrow.
We go out to eat every Sunday after church with my girls and their husbands and today wasn't any different. They decided to go to a buffet. I took SF jello, crystal light to put in cold water and a couple of boullion cubes to put in hot water with me. I ate 3 spoons of potato soup broth and it really tasted good. I was a cheap date today...the waitress didn't even charge me for the couple sips of soup that I had.
I am worried about the puree stage. I don't know how I will manage that at a resturant. I might have to stick with my liquids for that meal. I suppose I could take a thermos with a protein drink in it.

Topic: Optifast plan anyone?
I'm starting my 2week optifast plan tomorrow and I'm going shopping tonight for my stuff. Actually it is a few days shy of 2 weeks long since they moved up my surgery I needed a couple more days to mentally prepare and pig out on some last meals and get totally wasted drunk with my girlfriends last night!! LOL! Oh, and since I didn't have time to order the optifast....I'm doing shakes from walmart.
ANYWHO> my point... the diet calls for lean meat, cooked and raw veggies and fruit, cottage cheese and low fat yogurt, occasional bread/starch serving and skim milk.
I need....
Ideas for variety on lean meats
YUCK cottage cheese....any substitutes for that one?
Ideas for bread/starch serving
Do you think it matters what kind of veggies....frozen/fresh or canned?????
Thanks for any input!

Topic: RE: Vitamins...?
I'm gonna get walmart ones for now. If I find that my first labs post op aren't good, then I will order them, but the nurse said they should be fine at walmart.

Hey Surgibuddies!!!! We'll have to be sure to keep up with one another. I'm not on here a whole lot, but I will probably be post op. With work and runnin with the kids I don't have much online time now, but after surgery I'll be off work and better able to be supportive and hopefully be supported! Can't wait to join ya'll on the losers bench!!!
