I have found that the type of protine drink makes all the diffrence in the world. If you dont get enough protine, you will be hungry. Period. No other way around it. I have tried 10 or 12 diffrent ones over the past 5 months and found "Muscle Milk Light: by Cytosport to be the best. 25g protine per serving, 195 calories, carbs 11, fat and sugar are very low -  fits within most dietary guidelines. Check with your dietitian if your not sure.  You can get it at GNC online or even thru amazon.com.  10 flavors and all of them are wonderful.

Try putting it in a blender with some ice so its thicker. Sometimes I have found that consistancy is everything. Remember our bodies want to eat so if you make the shakes thick with ice, they have a heavier texture and you will find it more satisfying.

Hang in there

You'll do great! By this time next week, it'll be behind you.  I was scared too.  Prayer makes the difference.  I've said my prayer for you and I pray God will send his angels to be there with you.

Topic: Surgery Oct 21 anyone
Hello I was just wondering if anyone else is having surgery Oct 21 too?

I am very excited and can not wait. I have been wanting this for over 6 years. I finally said yes I am going to do this now, I just wish I did it back then. I could have been enjoying the benefits already. But I was not ready but I am for sure now.

Good luck and best wishes to all having surgery this day or anyother day.

Were you on the pill? If you had to stop taking it before surgery, this could be why but I doubt that it will be a problem.

Good Luck on your surgery. I'm tentatively scheduled for the 27th and had my first panick attack today! For about all of 2 minutes then I took a nap.
Let me know how it goes!

I had problems with my surgeon's office also. They office people are not very good communicators but the surgeon has a great reputation. From the research that I have done on my dr, the biggest complaint is about the front office, unfortunately. I have United Healthcare PPO and they approved my request rather quickly. Once the office got the info into them, it only took about a week for UHC to approve it. I didn't even have to do a supervised diet. I have in the past and they did ask for a 5 year weight history from my drs but other than that, it was relatively easy to get approved. Now, i'm just waiting for my dr's office to confirm my surgery date with the hospital.
If you don't get any return phone calls, I would keep calling and speaking with different people. Try to get emails for them also and just bug the heck out of them. The squeaky wheel is the one that gets the oil!
Don't give up. There are other doctors out there if this one doesn't want your business.

Good luck.

Hi all. My WLS is on 10/28 too.  I am on a 1000 calorie diet for 3 weeks before. It can be food or liquid or a combination of both. I choosing the food option. I am allergic to Milk and milk products. I have slipped afew times. Nothing major. A tablespoon of peanut butter is all. After reading all the posts I am thinking on trying to do some liquids , if I can find them. Good luck all.
