Topic: RE: 3 days post-op, when will the bloating and pain subside?
I had my surgery on Oct. 14th, and experienced the gas and bloating as well until my doctor prescribed me Nexium powder.  You take it one time a day, and it helps with the gas, as well as helps your pouch to heal faster.  It seems to be really working well for me.

Topic: RE: BMI 35 with comorbidities...do I have a chance?
Hello There,

Yes, I too had a BMI of 35 before my surgery, which was pretty recent (October 14th to be exact).  I was approved by my insurance based on the fact that I had comorbidities, such as diabetes, and hypertension.  It wasn't extremely easy to get an approval, however, it wasn't too difficult either. It took alot of fighting with them, however, in the end, I did get approved.  As long as your provider's are submitting ta strong case for your needing the surger,  you are likely to get approved.

Hope this helps....Good Luck :-)

Gus,

Listen to your own common sense. Don't get the flu shot! Do you really think it can't hurt? From a strictly medical standpoint, it only protects against one particular strain of flu. Here is something very very interesting to think about. Each year, they have to pick one strain that they think will be prevalent that year. Now, how on earth can they know what strain will be most common? Either they have a chrystal ball into which they gaze or there is another agenda out there. Have you ever thought of how much money is generated by selling these vaccines? Even if YOU got it for free, someone had to pay to purchase the vaccination.  It's all big business, big money. Also, that's if that vaccine is even harmless. I don't trust them at all. Oops, now how did that other type of virus get in there.... I'm never taken a flut shot in my life, and it's been many years since I caught the flu. Let your immune system work for you. People are not health-conscious any longer--only medical conscious. I did a Google search for flu vaccines and found some interesting results. Has anyone heard of Hyperwear? I'm not sure why Google brought it up because it's some sort of exercise vest. http://www.hyperwear.com
There should be a fitness article if you use the search feature on the site that talks about the flu vaccinations and the dangers. Anyway, to summarize, don't do it. By the way, have you ever noticed how if a parent doesn't want to get a flu shot for their children, then they are horrible? Everything is for the children....

Feel free to email me if you have any questions about the flu shots.

Thanks,
Jamie

Saw Dr. D yesterday and was put on all liquid diet.  Did have to pay the program fee up front but have not been told about the hospital which I am sure is afterwards.  Thank you for your help.  I am getting very nervous now that it is getting so close, but I know this is what I want.

Why won't anything go down.....anything....not even water.....this is a constant issue. I had cream of wheat this morning and I have to vomit.  Has anyone else had this issue?  If so, how was it corrected?

Topic: RE: Just started Pre-op Diet and I am starving to death!!!
Hello.  I have been lurking around for a while and just realized there are threads of people awaiting their surgery dates.  Mine is Monday.  I started my pre op diet yesterday.  Mostly liquids, 2 protein drinks a day plus cream of wheat, milk, yogurt, applesauce, cottage cheese, and sf jello and popsicles AND all the clear liquids you can drink!  No sugar of course.  So far I have been pretty full.   At least I have a variety of things to turn to.  Today they are having a pot luck lunch at work and there is food everywhere!  The barbeque is killing me!  Go**** smells awesome!  BUT--I have better things in mind!  A new life!  So I'll just sit here and chew on my jello and think of skinnier days.  Good luck to all of you.  I will pray for each of you!

Topic: Hi Everyone
I haven't been on the forum for a month or so because I have been getting ready for the RNY surgery on 10/29.

Today is day # 3 of the pre-op diet. Days 1 and 3 are fine but I was starving yesterday.

Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi.

Have a great day.
