Topic: RE: surgery november 10,2009 with dr kim in syracuse ny anyone?
My nursing professor used to assist in Dr Kim's surgeries, she says she would go to him for anything.  I am likely going to see Dr Kim as well (Hopefully anyway).

Topic: RE: Happy Halloween Surgery Date?

Hi guys,

Thanks for the response.  I was given 2 different liver reduction diets.  First I had the liquid protein diet with some added foods like ff pudding, unsweetened applesauce etc.  The problem is I hate milk and that diet called for milk to be used with the protein powder.  Then the doc's office sent me a food based liver reduction diet that really is a lot simpler to follow.  I'm hungry, but not going crazy.  Starting Monday I'm going to do the liquid diet just so I can get used to it, since I'll be on liquids for a couple of weeks after surgery.

I hope you have an easier time of it as the big day approaches.

Rhonda

Topic: RE: Insurance coverage

Hi Philip, my name is Kathleen J and I live in UT. My insurance is an HMO through Medicare and weight loss surgery is excluded. Imagine my joy when last week I was notified that they gave authorization to my surgeons office. I obtained mine on medical grounds, arthritis in both knees, acid reflux, depression, but to name a few. My family doctors office really co-operated with me and sent my insurance five years of medical records. Do you have any health issues? If so maybe this would be an option for you. I go for my pre-op on October 29th, 2008 and it's gastric bypass surgery for me on November 10th, 2008. Good luck and don't give up you can do it to!

HelpMeRhonda, I am in same boat. I am actually having it on the 28th, 3 days before you. My husband feels the same way- he doesn't 'get' , but he supports me. Like you, I am nervous and excited. Looking over everyone's success stories and past posts is pretty inspiring.

I'm doing the pre-op diet now- torture- 10 days of liquids. Does your doc require this too?

Topic: RE: A SOULS MATE, A VENT PARTNER, A FRIEND- Good Morning

I have to admit I've been having a really hard time this past few months and yes, I've strayed from this site.  I think it's because I only have 30 lbs to meet my goal weight so this weightloss board isnt on the front burner anymore.  Now, I'm faced with the emotional roller coaster of it all and in my opinion, it's the worst part.

I struggle daily with my emotions and even though I see a therapist, I find it getting harder and harder.  I feel like I'm sinking futher down.  I'm just so sad and I feel like such a failure.  The ironic part is I have lots of friends and family I can turn to but I still feel so alone.

As always, I will continue to move forward but I wanted to thank you for your message.  It made me smile.

Topic: RE: Why are some people so CRUEL !
Hi, I have a mother who is also 77, and she would tell him to get lost....not in such a nice way either.  My feelings on people who do not have respect for elders and handicapped people is that they are insecure in themselves, lack intelligence and manners.  I am so sad to have read about this happening to your mom.  A lot of people are plain stupid, and do not have respect for others, never less themselves.  God bless your mom and you.

Topic: SEARCHING FOR BIATRIC SUPPORT GROUPS IN ALABAMA

Hello, I am interested in finding a support group of folks who have had lap band and other type bairatic surgery...I am still in the initial stages of getting information for my surgeon, whom I saw yesterday in Mobile....trying to get all my ducks in a row...any help would be great as I live alone, have two friends who are positive about me having the lap band done, but have negative remarks from my mother and another friend.  I need lots of support to help me through all the tough times.  I live in Butler, Al, but work in Meridian, Ms, 45 miles up the road.  IF anyone knows of a support group I can get involved with, please contact me.  Thank you...Sheila B

Topic: RE: 2 Year Medical History
Hi, I too am in the initial process of the Lap band procedure, getting all the information needed.  I started on my own acquiring diagnosis from other doctors before even seeing the surgeon for the first time...I had to pay for the service, but it did help.  I would contact the office manager of your physician's office to find out what the status was, I do know it does take time to obtain all the information, think it took about two months or so for the reports I requested.  Good Luck in your endeavors, and success with your surgery.  Sheila B
