Please do get a flu shot. I worked for the CDC Natl. Immunization Hotline for many years. The shot is comprised to protect against  3 different strains of flu that are calculated to be the most likely to be out there. Even if you catch a different strain, it will help reduce complications. It couldn't hurt.
Every year over 30,000 Americans die of  flu and it's complications. I lost 2 friends.
Please protect yourself and others.

I keep my water iced down in that "jug" they gave me at the hospital.  Whereever I am... it is.  By the bed at night so when I wake up in the night I drink.  When I move to the den or kitchen it goes.  Tomorrow I have to venture out to do some work and it will go.

My MD wrote a prescription for physical therapy in a heated pool before surgery, it was great!!  No impact on my joints and I lost weight!  the isurance only paid for 6 weeks of therapy, but I am looking for a gym with heated pool and pool classes. Good luck on your journey!

Topic: X Post 1 Week Post Op
Hey, fellow sleevers!

Have been laying low, not as peppy as some others that were done last week ("Had sleeve this morning, off to prom tonight!" I think I saw that... HA)

Healing slowly, still having pain, mostly in one area (lower right- feels like a hot poker), but moving. Today was the first day I could bathe/shampoo by myself and then went for a walk, my entire block and back. Beautiful  here in Miami today, just couldn't stay in.

I had some "extra" work done in there, there was a tumor in my stomach and some liver problems we are still waiting on the biopsy reports.

BUT
All in all, I think I am doing great. Down to only 1 nap per day and 1-2 pain pills a day. I found using a cane is a great idea for balance, and in/out of bed. So if you are pre-op, go digging in Grandma's closet.

I have never had 1 bit of nausea, or GERD (I am on Protonix since pre-op). Liquids slip down in fairly normal amounts, mushies: easy peasy! I had a 40 Bougie. Getting down all my protein and more. Have lost 12 lbs, but know most of that is water. DH keeps telling me how skinny my face looks, not what I'm going for, LOL!

My blood sugars went whacko in the hospital and I had to be put on insulin which freaked me. Came home on small Amaryl dose, Blood sugars around 150-200 now. Doc says give everything a chance to settle.

I have started Shell's ****tail today...

I went to the hospital with 2 giant packs of Gas X and took ONE chewable on day 3. That was it.

I AM HUNGRY!! I hope this will go away, cause this is not head hunger, I am starving, LOL!

I want to send out a special thanks to my precious angel Blue Skies, she is spectacular!!! And to all of you that sent prayers and wishes, they were felt. Thank you so much.

Dr. Gagner is magnificent of course, as is Genevieve his PA. I don't have to see him for 2 more weeks and left the hospital on mushies.

The hospital was disgusting. TMI. I will be writing one of my famous letters now that I am feeling better...

Let the journey begin!

I can't do regular water...I add crystal light to mine and I have no trouble getting in 40-60 oz a day.  Today I slept alot and I'm behind but I'll catch up!

I'm sorry you have to go back to work so soon!

God will never give you more than you can handle. Lord, am I close?

I have an exercise bike but my legs get so weak when I get off that I can hardly stand.  I am going to start tomorrow and try working on a gazelle and treadmill.  Going to start slow and hopefully be able to increase.  I haven't talked to anyone yet about what kind of exercise I can do.  Was waiting until I was feeling better.

I came home from hospital on Sunday.  I think I felt better that day than I do today.

Second day home lots of gas and loose stools... now the opposite.... constipation and cramping.

For me the hardest is getting in all this water.  I am sipping constantly, can't seem to make a dent.

I did have a couple tablespoons of low fat vanilla yogurt today.  Man that tasted sooooo good.  Going to try some cream of wheat tonight.  I am hungry!!!  Nut said it was okay to start today some of that today.

My biggest problem is that I am supposed to go back to work tomorrow.  I know that I am not ready.  Dreading the phone call to my boss... she has not been very supportive.

Glad that I am on this side of the surgery though.  I know that things will get better every day!!!

So glad you are doing so well.

Kelly
