Topic: 4 days post-op
It has been tough, not gonna lie. I had 12 hours of vomiting in the hospital that could not be controlled with any meds or nausea patches. I figured out on my own it was the Morphine pump and the nurses would not listen to me so I unplugged it. I only vomited 2 more times and finally could keep water down. My glucose levels were high (I am not a diabetic) so I was given insulin shots several times until my levels were normal. I still have lots of pain but I think all the vomiting made me extra sore. I can't sleep lying done, have to sit up or acid comes up and I gag and cough which hurts.
***NO regrets, I am glad it is done!****** I just hope I feel better soon! I am not trying to scare anyone, just want you to know if you suspect the med pump is making you sick, make the nurses listen!!  You know your body more than they do. Two of my nurses were not very nice and would not help me. I layed in wet sheets for awhile and finally asked them to change my bed. I had unpluggd the pain pump so I was hurting bad. They acted all put out. I have never been treated like that in any hospital ever.
Again, not trying to be negative, just needed to vent. I know it will all be worth it in the end.

I asked my nurse about the drinking and she said it goes right through the band, but at a little slower rate, so drink what I felt I could handle, and I havent had much problems.  I am a little worried I am eating too much, but I dont feel bad or like I have anything stuck.  I have lost 12lbs. and have 75 to reach my goal.  It is nice to talk to someone who is right where I am.  Sounds like you are doing great!  Do you feel like you have a lot of restricion?

Topic: RE: 3 1/2 WEEKS POST OP

Just commenting on the pain on the left side. I too have that and I am post op as of Oct. 17, 2008.If you have ever gone on you tube and watched the Lap band videos it kinda looks like the reason we are more sore on the left is due to the more evasive work being done I know my port incision is mostly on the left and where they pull up part of your stomach to stabilize the band is more on the left also. It all made sense to me when I watched it. My pain is pretty dull now but I thought the first few days I had really messed up having this done. I am better now except for thinking I might be getting hungry to often. I have lost 14 lbs since surgery so I am ok with that. Good luck to all of you and please keep in touch if you have time for another support needing person.

Hi and thanks for contacting me. I did make it through the worst I believe but I still have bad cravings for some of my favorite foods. My one big problem now is I am and always have been a big drinker (tea and water) and I catch myself grabbing a bottle of water and nearly downing it between my meals. I have tried to ask if this is a bad thing like stretching out the little pouch but have not found out anything yet. To date I have lost 14 lbs post surgery. I am looking to loose 100 more so it will be a long but worth it trip. I had tuna for lunch today and it was wonderful. Good luck to you and maybe we can be some support for each other.
How are you doing on your weight?

Topic: RE: Surgery Oct 21 anyone
That is so cool. I am happy that it is going great for you.

I did not have my surgery they cancelled it on me the day before. There was a mix up with the insurance they did not submit to my primary so they had to do that before I can have the surgery.

So they submitted and I was approved. So now I am scheduled for Nov18, and I have to do the preop diet all over and I start it Tuesday. It is ok at least I know that in two weeks I will be having my surgery and on my way to losing weight and getting healthier.

Good luck to you and best wishes.

Sue

Hi I am new to this site I did have my surgery on 10/21/08. And all has gone well . I did not need pain medication after leaving the hospital I am following the full liquid diet and will be moving on to the puree phase on 11/4/08. I am so glad that I did have the procedure and that I have a wonderful bariatric physician and staff.
