I have a date! Oct.28th - My new beginning!
Hello! I am pleased for you that you have a date!!!! It has been a year for me since I decided to have WLS, and I am still waiting. That is partly due to having changed insurance programs and then mainly that I am having my surgery at a military facility, and the doctor does other abdominal surgeries with WLS as he can work it in.
Anyway, I am happy for you! I went to an OH conference in Sacramento and purchased a couple of books by Chef Dave Fouts. He was one of the inspirational speakers and known as the only chef who specializes in helping WLS patients. One booklet has shake recipes, one has smooth foods, and the longest has 4 wks of tasty recipes. You can read about this at www.ChefDave.org
As a pre-surgery person, that is all the advice I dare to give!
I know you will do well! Bless you!!!

You are entirely welcome! I hope you have a WLSG local group so you have people to talk to who have been through this. If you go to the main site for forums, you should be able to click on your state and find one. Of course, there is also support here on this forum. Please post how you are doing on the liquid diet.
Wishing you the best,

Well...I just went to my pre-op visit on Monday of this week. I have to do two liquid meals per day and one "sensible" meal, preferably lean meat and veggies one week prior to my surgery. The nutritionist I visited had told me two weeks, so I was happy about it only being one week prior!!!
Congrats to you Donna! Are you nervous????

I'm starting full liquids on the same day (Monday) for surgery on October 27, and I'm nervous, too. I just got the surgery date today, so I wasn't really prepared to start a liquid diet next week - I'm worried about getting too hungry, or drinking too much and gaining weight.
My doctor gave me a sample meal plan for the full liquid diet, and there are other sample plans on the web, too. One of the doctor's suggestions was to sample several different types of protein supplements to get an idea of what you'll want to eat when you get to the full liquid stage post-op.
I googled "bariatric surgery protein supplement" and found maybe 10 websites that sell food specifically for WLS patients, and a couple of them offered samples (most for a small fee). I ordered sample sizes from a couple of sites, and I also ordered a 14-day kit from www.med-diet.com that has puddings, shakes, SF applesauce, etc., so you can just stick with that instead of trying to figure it out on your own. It was $109 for 2 weeks' of food (other than juice and milk, if I remember right.) I have no idea how it will taste, but it seemed like a good solution for me.
Good luck!

wow!! that is great, thanks so much for the info. I will definitely check that out.
Also....best of luck with your surgery! I understand how you feel about not really being prepared. I had convinced myself that I was not going to be approved...I guess so I wouldn't be too disappointed if I didn't....and now I feel like I am in a whirlwind! :-)
