My doctor hasn't mentioned any protein to shrink the liver. What is the purpose of that?  I haven't tried any protein shakes, because I've read many times over that your taste changes so drastically after surgery.

I go to EggFace's journal. She constantly adds new drink concoctions to enjoy so we can get our protein in. She also has other recipes that I'm looking forward to trying.

As far as the port, I'm clueless. I don't know anything about the realize band.

I think I'll go to the Unjury website and order some samples also.. that way I'm not buying bulk. I also want to try the Nectar brand protein.

I pray that everything turns out well for your surgery. I've had quite  a few surgeries in my lifetime so I guess I'm kind of a pro at them.  For me, the worst part was when they put the mask over your face and have you count backwards from 10. I've never gotten to 7.  If/when you become scared, concentrate on your breathing as though you might be in Lamaze classes... breathe in through the nose and out through your mouth. It really does have a calming effect.  Also, think of the rest of us having surgery at the same time, so that we can all give each other strength.

Do you have an "angel" Someone who has had wls and will be with you?  I'm looking for one for myself. I've been becoming friends with one of the ladies locally, at least online, so I'm hoping she'll offer.

Best wishes to you, and congratulations! We've made the right decision to become healthy!

I guess the purpose of the protein liquid diet pre-surgery is to reduce the amount of fat around the liver and make it easier for the surgeon to find the stomach--for the lapband surgery anyway.  The nurse told me that the doctor does not demand this to be done, but if they have trouble finding their way around inside, they will stop the surgery and you would have to do the procedure over again after you lose some more weight.  It is not a requirement of my insurance either.  I am just going to do it, because I don't think I could go through all of this again, if they can't see inside my belly.
Love to all and God be with all of us through our trials and tribulations!!!
