October 7th

Will be my re-birth day!!!! I'm really psyched.

Have a zillion thoughts as to what I should be doing and what will make things easier on me. I've heard of eating a lot of protein prior to surgery to shrink the liver, but my surgeon never said anything about this.

Are there any other things I should be thinking of, or doing prior to surgery to make things easier for me afterwards?

HELP! My mind is racing with thoughts of what to do.

I don't get in to see my Dr. again until a week before the surgery.

Congrats on your date!!!

I get my official date either tomorrow or Thursday but was told it will either be October 7th or 14th unless they can squeeze me into September somewhere but I doubt it.

I have to do a 2 week liquid diet. This is the part I am not looking forward to but I will survive!

When is your date? I haven't heard anything regarding a liquid diet beforehand for my surgery.  Is that for practice or are they encouraging you to lose weight before surgery?

My date is October 7th. I actually just got it yesterday afternoon. I will start a clear liquid diet on Sept 25th though. It's required by my surgeon to help shrink the liver so they can get to the stomach plus they would like me to lose 20-30lbs before surgery too.

I'm very excited!!!!

Oh Congrats!!!   We'll be Surgery-Sisters!!! I'm looking forward to it also, though I'm sure October 7th will come quick for both of us!

Have you given any thoughts to your "last" meal and what it will be?

LAST MEAL? Too Funny! Well there are so many options but one is Biaggi's. OMG they have the best Italian there. Oh, and throw in a movie with some popcorn. That would be my first thought but honestly I don't know. What about you?

I have already been doing protein shakes for breakfast. I hear that taste buds change so I hope I still like these after surgery!

I am very very excited! 33 days! Its awesome to have a sleever sister too!

There are two things I want to have prior to surgery... knowing that I won't be able to eat like this again.  I want a Clambake... lobster, shrimp, clams, mussels, sausage & corn on the cob and then I want to go to the Melting Pot for one of their meals.

I know afterwards (many months afterwards) I'll be able to eat those type of things, but not all at once and it's how I've been accustomed to eating.

I haven't done any protein drinks ,though I did try a protein bar and thought it tasted like dirt.

I'm sure I'll find protein that I can handle and even enjoy. I have been practically memorizing eggface's recipes for protein shakes!

I'm not having a VSG, I'm going a RNY.. though it's still nice to talk with someone who is having surgery the same day and knowing we will be going through the same types of things at the same time!

Maybe we should exchange phone numbers so we can talk to one another in the hospital.  How long will you be in afterwards?

My date is the 7th as well.  I have already started using the "UNJURY" protein shakes once a day and will start full throttle on the 24th.  My surgeon does not require this, but says it is a good idea in order to shrink the liver.  Actually the "UNJURY" shakes are very palatable and don't smell too bad.  The chicken soup is great.  I started them by only ordering their sample packets.  I will be placing a full order in the next day or two.  I'm not really one for sweet drinks, so will be purchasing a lot of the chicken soup on.  I have many questions yet and am already getting anxiety attacks and my mind is constantly racing.  I am worried about the surgery as I have never had any type of surgery before.  I worry about being initmate with my husband and if he will be able to feel the port, etc (if you know what I mean).

May God be with us all on the 7th of October.  May He bless each and every one of you
Love to all and God be with all of us through our trials and tribulations!!!
