Topic: How do you know?
This might seem as a dumb ? to some but how do you know which surgery you are going to have. My seminar is next month. I first thought I was going to have the lap band but someone said that since my BMI is over 50 that my surgeon will not give me the lap band. Do they tell you when you see the doc or at the seminar?

Topic: RE: 6 WEEK POST OP VISIT AND FILL
Eventhough, I haven't had the lab band surgery yet that is what I have heard over and over from other bandsters. It seems that a fill kind of irrates the stoma a little and it is best to do liquids for a few days after each on. It sounds like you are really doing great. Keep up the great work. I'm in the losing weight prior to surgery phase. I'm really soaking up a lot of advice on what to expect and learning how to perhaps ward off problems after I have the surgery.

Demetria, I saw the same type of commercial one day and it has starting changing my life. My suggestion is to find the bariatric center in your area and attend the seminar and support group meeting they may offer and make an appointment for a dr consultation. I am in the losing weight before surgery phase and have to lose 35 pounds. Of course, I don' know what kind of health insurance you have or if you will be private pay like myself, but start getting it all together so that everything will be ready when you make the decision and you've done all the research to see which is the best for you. I chose the lap band due to the versatility of the band and the fact that if you decide to have a family in the future you can un-fill the band during pregnancy and have no ill effects from it during pregnancy. That was not my reason, mine was for future health problems I would be as natural internally so they could do scopes the regular way by just having my band un-filled. I wish you success and keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.

I had my first fill today with 4cc in a AP Large band the newest kind of band FDA approved. I started day of surgery 353 lbs today I weighted in 313 and my surgeon was so prowd of me. However he said after a fill I need to be on liquids only, is that what your surgeons tell you after a fill?

Hi, I just wanted to give you all an updated on Angel O. Her daughter called me and said she has come through surgery and is doing good so far. I will be up there this evening and will update you when I get home. Her daughter said she doesn't do really well with any surgery, so it sounds like this one went great. If anyone wants to sign her surgery support page its at: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/status.php?N=O1186624569 Teresa (Angel)

Topic: RE: Psch Evaluation?
Hey! I am about to be in the same place that you are in (I have an appointment with my PCP next week to discuss WLS options and to find a surgeon), and I have a lot of the same feelings as you do! I am scared to have the psch evaluation. I'm not sure what kind of questions they are going to ask me, or if they are going to ask questions that can be misinterpreted and such. I would love to talk to you about your experience with the psch dr and see what it was like, and what things they asked you. I have wanted this surgery for the past 4 years and I think the one thing that has been holding me back is the psch eval...I'm afraid that I will be to anxious/nervous to be myself. I was also told by my insurance company that my "out of pocket" expense would be greater if I were to have the surgery in a clinic, as opposed to in a hospital. Has anyone had their surgery done in a clinic? If so, I have been doing reasearch to find the perfect clinic and haven't found anything yet. Anyone have any suggestions?

Topic: I ASK FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!!
Hello everyone, let me start off by telling you a little something about myself. I Demetria, a 19 year old college student. I have been struggling with my weight everysince I was born. I have always been too big and have tried everything to lose this weight from atkins to go without food altogether, but one day I came home from school crying my heart out when I say a commercial for lapband, I feel that the lord had wanted me to see that and it was meant for me. Now, I ask you all to pray for me, and that the lord will allow my to have this surgery, I am still waiting to meet my doctor, so i am just in the early process, but I ask you all to pray me.
