Hi Kevin - I'm having problems right now, too. I'm not vomiting yet, but everything makes me nauseated and anything semi-solid/solid hurts and my abdomin is very pressure sensitive. I'm seeing my doc tomorrow to see if I have a stricture. Strictures are fairly common (a little over 10% of patients), especially within the first few months. If you are an especially fast/good healer the stoma between the pouch and the intestine heals up too tight and the food won't pass through. Did you get your EGD done last week? What did your doc find? Hope you feel better! Jennine

Hi Angela, my RNY was 10/1. I've lost much less than you since surgery, so I think you're losing just fine. It's possible that you've hit a plateau while your body adjusts to losing the 30+ lbs. I don't think your doctore should care how much you lose, just that you are losing some weight or size betwen checkups. Stalls happen, and your doc should know that. Get your water in!!! If water is hard, try any calorie-free or low calorie beverage that works for you. Sometimes plain water is hard on the tummy. Also try your bevs at different temperatures because cold can sometimes cause spasms which can hurt and be nauseating. I'd say tha****er is probably your biggest culprit right now... if you start to get dehydrated your body will store ever ounce! Sounds like the poultry is making you dump. I can't eat chicken or turkey at all... they are pretty dry and dense and are hard for a lot of people. Try some seafood or lean ground beef. Try some beef jerky... weird I know, but it works for a lot of people. Don't forget that there is good protein in dairy products if you can tolerate them... milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese slices or sticks. Also, you can try adding some unflavored protein powder to mashed potatoes and soups. I'm having some problem with food now, even though I was doing great for the first month... might have a stricture. Hope you feel better soon.

Topic: Port location very noticeable
Had Lap Band surgery 10/23/07. Everytime I bend over or stretch out I can feel the port tugging under my skin. When I am bending over it feels like there is a golf ball on my right side. Is this something I just need to get used to?

Topic: New to this board
I had the DS on 10/30/07, and thought it might be nice to be on this board with others that had surgery around the same time as me. I know we have all had different types of surgery, but a lot of the issues are still the same. I'm doing really well...I had my first post op last friday and all was right on track...I'm off of puree food and onto softer foods right now. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.

Angela- I'm sorry that you are having such a rough time. I really think that at this point you have got to focus on getting in water. I had my RNY on 10/9, so I know that it isn't easy, but it really is essential. You are going to have a hard time with losing and feeling better until you can get it in (although 30 lbs. in 2 weeks is AMAZING). As far as what to eat, I too have trouble with chicken and turkey. The foods that I handle the best are tuna salad (either with lite mayo and teeny pickles, or the pre-made tuna sensations packets) and FF refried beans (mixed with some enchilada sauce and 2% cheese. These things go down really well. Hope you feel better soon. -Meredith

Topic: RE: Off Topic - Jacksonville NC Hair Stylists
Jennifer... Have you found somewhere to get your hair done at? I have lived here since 99. If you want to spend a fair amount , not over the top. either of the Fantastic Sams are good. The one by Target ask for Rhonda. The one down by the McDonalds close to TT ask for Patty. They are both great. Now if you are used to spending alot... Then the Heritage Day Spa is the way to go. Ask for Melissa F. She is a great colorist. I hope I could be of some help. If you need help with anything else just ask. :-) P.S. Have you had your surgery yet?
