Can I add you as friend?

Topic: RE: Is anyone else exhausted?
Most people I have spoken to that had the RNY all said that they really weren't back to their 'normal' energy level until 6-8 weeks out. I would give it a couple more weeks and just take breaks when you need them.

Thanks for the welcome.... I do have a support group, as a matter of fact I just got home from a meeting lol. My surgeon's office holds support group meetings and then there is a nother close to me as well. Support is so important!
I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Thanks for the cheesy grin Val! Yes, I am getting my B-Vitamin. There's 125 mcg (2083%) in my multivitamin (Optisource). I hope it's better soon too! Overall my quality of life is great, so I'm not complaining, just hoping the energy comes back soon.

I"m 2 1/2 weeks out from roux en y. Tired? Absolutely, but in the same breath have more energy than I did before surgery. Odd, defintely. Are you taking your B vitamin. My doctor told me that would make a difference. Hope it's better soon!! Keep in touch if you would like to! I know I could use the support as much as anyone. God bless!
(cheesy grin...just for YOU!)

Topic: Is anyone else exhausted?
I'm 5 weeks out from Lap RNY. I'm feeling good and am tolerating most foods. I'm getting my 70g + of protein in every day, and usually meet my 64 oz water/fluid goal. I'm walking at least 30 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week. My problem? I'm absolutely exhausted!!! No energy whatsoever, and I feel like I've been hit by a ton of bricks. I get up at a decent time, go for a walk, and then have to take a nap. This afternoon I went shopping and after I was out for about 1-2 hours, I could just feel the exhaustion coming on again. Just curious if anyone else is feeling the same way?

Hang in there Angela, you'll make it through this. I agree with everyone else, the poultry can be difficult for a lot of people. Have you tried the ever popular Wendy's chili? It's soft, a little warm, and seems to react well with a lot of people's pouches. You need your protein. Try the chili, or maybe other bean-based soups. Also critical is water intake. It's hard to do, but if you can get enough in, you'll notice a difference within a day or two. Your body desperately needs hydration. That said, if nothing is working, call your Dr. Good luck, and keep us posted!

Welcome Kerry,
I had an RNY on October 22. I too am very pleased with my progress. I have just started meats. Nothing has bothered me thus far.
Feel free to ask questions, discuss issues, we are all in this together.
Do you have a support group in your area? The group I have joined meets every other Saturday or the day before someone is to have surgery, they are true blessing to me. I think that is the best advice I could give, join a local support group.
Blessings,
Angel

Hi there. I had proximal RNY on 10-26-07 and had my first 2-week post op appointments yesterday. Seems like a lot of people have them at 1-week, but my surgeon does 2-week, 3-month, 6-month, and yearly after that unless I feel like I need to be seen between them. I'm doing really well, too. Have felt great since I can home the day after surgery and only took my pain meds that one night, then Tylenol for two days and nothing since. I got to start soft foods and pureed meats as of last night. So far I've tried cotttage cheese with a spoon of spaghetti sauce and a tiny sprinkling of fat-free mozzarella cheese on it - yummy!! - and a scrambled egg this morning. Pouchy did well with both, so I'm a happy girl today!!
I hope you keep doing well. This is a pretty exciting time right now getting started on real foods and progressing onto the next steps!
