Hi Shannon! I had my surgery on Oct. 30th and I have lost 56 lbs. I have stalled a couple of times and I would panic. I always wanted to compare myself to my sister-in-law that had this done. She had RNY done June 22, 2007 and has lost 130lbs!!! She lost so fast and I kept thinking that is what I should be doing...but everyone and everybody is different...don't get down on yourself...you've lost 30 lbs...that's great!! Have faith in yourself and don't dread it....when I do that I seem not to lose anything....I do walk on the treadmill at least 2 miles at 3.5mph. I think that helps me alot. Good luck!! Amy

Hi everyone! I'm grateful that I found this site with people around the same surgery date as mine. I too, have been nearly in a panic thinking that I wasn't losing enough weight. My Dr. and NUT tell me that I am doing very well and to keep up the good work. I am just now beginning to be able to listen to what they're saying. I think we have all been on diets that have failed and it takes a while for us to beleive in ourselves , as well as the surgery. PS, Andrea, we have the same surgery date and oddly enough, our weight loss is identical.

I have been trying to make sure I get all my protein in and still the same. I did lose those 2 lbs that I had gained over Christmas. Why is this so difficult? Is it difficult for everyone else?

Hello fellow Oher's, I have found this last few months, well years for me but really this last few months having a buddie while you are trying to lose weight is so important, when you are wanting to be accountable on your lifestyle change or any lifestyle change for that matter, it is great to have someone there to help you with it, if you try to go it alone you might be feeling alone, lonely, you might feel abandoned, I just know I might not be as successful as I could be if I had some accountablity to back me up. I say this to my self: Dont do it alone! I make no bones about it, that I am not doing this alone, first and formost I have Alan my (DH) Alan is a rock solid accountablity partner for me, if you dont have a Alan in your life you should get one, (I dont mean a husband or wife) I am talking about someone that loves you, cares for you, and will be there for you NO MATTER WHAT. No matter what you are going thru "you need that for your self" It is just indespenceable that you have that. You just have to have someone there thats going to be there for you. Now it is so very nice to have On-Line friends , it's good to have a physical person that you can come and talk to and have them kick you in the fanny if you need it and have them love on you at just the right times. I am one of those perople that need a verbal kick in the hiney once in awhile, The Online community and support group members have been fanstic and understand everything I am going thru, these are great resources to stay accountable to. These people will be there to support you in your life no matter what choices you make, and no matter where your journey takes you. God Bless everyone, Kristy

i had mine on Oct 2 and have lost 62 lbs but a friend of mine had it done 6 weeks before that and lost 97 so it just depends on the person. I have found if I don't drink alot of water and get my protein in I won't lose. Don't worry about it because it will all come off. just hang in there. hugs sweetie.

I had mine 10/22 and have only lost 41lbs since surg. My nut said it was fine and I was considered a slow loser. He said most people drop a bunch of weight fast and then stall a long time and then there is people like me that lose 2-3lbs a week and dont stall but we all end up at the same place in the end.

Alot of it depends on what your starting weight was....you can't really compare pounds to pounds you have to look a percentages. If someone has 200lbs to lose and someone else only has 100lbs....well you aren't going to lose the lbs at the same time, example... 200lbs - 50lbs = 25% weight loss 100lbs - 25lbs = 25% weight loss Although it looks like someone else has lost double the amount you have you could be losing at the same rate....does that make sense?

Hello, everybody! I had my surgery on October 16, 2007, I'm three months out and only lost 30 since surgery. Is this normal? What are you all losing? I'm so terrified that this isn't going to work for me. Any suggestions? Shannon
