Topic: RE: OCTOBER 17TH!!! My world will change!!!
Congrats on getting your date!!! (Mine is Oct. 3)
Seeing a therapist is defiantly a good idea!!!! I've been through the psych exam my doctor ordered, and they recommended that I continue seeing a therapist to help me through my own issues. The woman I see twice a month is fantastic, and it helps me to put my own fears and worries into perspective. It really does help to have someone to talk to, but it helps MORE when that person listens and can offer sound advice on how to handle what you're going through.
I wish you the best of luck, and yes, although the change isn't easy for ANY of us, the end result will be the best thing that's happened in our lives. (We get our lives BACK!)

Whooo.. you're going through the same emotions I am! Try to do what I've been doing to myself, focus on all the fun things you'll be able to do when you've been freed from your prison! (At least that's how I'm seeing it.. heh.. hey! lemme out.. I've done my time!)
Congratulations! My date is October 3.

Topic: I've got my date.. need buddies!
Hi everyone! My first post to this board.. am trying to connect with others who are having lap-band surgery in the next month or so.. figure we can kinda go through it together?
My surgery date is set for October 3, 2007 at 11:30 am, Brigham & Women's hospital in Boston, MA.
Just kinda need a buddy or three who may be going through some of the same thought-processes, excitement, worries, etc. that I am.
Topic: In the process of getting ready for surgery.
Hi everyone. I have just spent a few hours reading your message board and you all seem so friendly. I started back in late May, 07 to see about lap band surgery. Went to support group and met the surgeon and post-oppers. Very informative. Came away so excited. Pre-op tests needed to be done. So far: saw a shrink. Had an interview with surgeon. Had a heart test. Had a scope. Had a filter put in. This week am having a sleep study, then another segment of the sleep study next week and then the results the week after. THEN, surgery will be scheduled if results of sleep study are okay. I watched an actual one hour video of lap band surgery yesterday online sponsored by Tampa General Hospital. It showed everything!

Topic: RE: Counting the days..........
My friend is doing great. He is 1 yr post op and he says he feels great. He is kind of stuck now with the weight loss and its his fault because he is eating unhealthy. I told him that was what got him there in the first place. Good luck on your surgery. Keep me in the loop and save me a seat in the losers bench you will get there before me.....

Hello Lizette, I wish you all the best for your surgery! I have an October 5th date scheduled and I admit I am also nervous about having 'voluntary' procedure that has some risk. If there was a better way to lose weight that we could trust we probably would have done it by now. How has your freind made out with his weight loss surgery? Best of luck. Mike

Hi Kevin. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I'm on the 15th and I understand your excitement. I'm having RNY though...don't know too much about the lapband. My best advice is to keep reading the boards. I have been here reading for a while now..and been doing research for a long time. It has meant so much to me. Just hearing real people just like me who have been there and done that. OH has been a wonderful resource for me. Best of luck to you with everything!
