I take the generic brand of the Flintstone chewables twice a day. Right now for calcium I bought Upcal D, but I think I will also buy some bariatric Advantage calcium lozenges, they come in different flavors. And I have a sublingual B12 vitamin.

Hey Deb, I have been thinking about surgery for about a year now. When I first went in to the doctors last year I took home all the papers and thought wow this is going to be a piece of cake. Little did I know how difficult it would be. For some reason I just couldnt get everything all in order. They finally sent it to the insurance company back in June. It was denied a bunch of times. Then all of a sudden the beginning of September I got a call with an approval. I hear you I had to pay out of pocket for the dieticians because they will cover gastric bypass but wont cover some appts for the dieticians. So crazy. I was told to go on the liquid diet 2 weeks prior to surgery. I actually started the diet 1 week earlier than that. So I have been on this liquid diet for 10 days now and have lost 19 lbs. I have been trying to research and find out why its necessary. I guess its to get fat off the liver and maybe to lose some weight before the surgery. Thats they only thing I can think of. If that makes any sense. This surgery is on my mind all the time. I cant stop thinking, talking about it. I had my last doctors appt with the doctor the other day. I was so nervous going in ther. He made me feel at ease after I left. So I feel excited now. I just cant wait to get healthy and not be over weight anymore. The other night I laid on the couch with my 5 yr old son and he said to me Mommy you are really so fat. I was heartbroken but then i realized this is why Im doing this. It was actually a motivation to keep doing good on the liquid diet. How long are you going to be in the hospital? I know it varies from diff doctors. I believe Im going to be in for 4 days. Take care Cheryl

Hey, I have hypogly. tendencies too -- didn't even THINK of this as an issue. Oh boy...I feel like there are so many things to consider. I will know my surgery date by next Thursday for this October & I am just itchin' to get this thing underway....so exciting! Glad to see that other people share similar concerns/issues...I think I will start Atty-kins (as I like to call it to make it "seem" friendlier) in a week to shrink that durn liver. Eew. Good luck to you guys...

Hey Vickie, I am still waiting for my date, but congratulations on yours! It's looking like mine's going to be the 22nd...ugh. I hate waiting! Anyway, just heard bout the new lapband -- is there a reason why you would choose the new one over the older one? Please I would love to know since it looks like you and I are at about the same BMI...could be important to know such a thing -- ya know? Ok, let me know your thoughts/info....thanks and congrats again, Stephanie

Congratulations on your date. We have another day to celebrate from now on! I know how you feel. It's like getting a new chance to start over. (Too bad I didn't do this 20 years ago!) Keep in touch. We can get through this together.

Topic: RE: Perm, before or after surgery??
My sister-in-law was a hairdresser. She said that the anesthesia will keep a perm from taking AFTER surgery. So if you get it before you should be okay.
