Hi Sally!
From what I read, the new band's width is longer/larger so it covers more of the stomach. The interior "ballon" lines the band completely...and is baffled (pillow like) and is softer. The new band supposedly helps speed the weight loss, although the amount of weight loss stays the same. I have also heard that there are few incidents of getting stuck / pbing/ sliming with the new AP band compared to the first one.
All of which are good enough for me to wait for the new AP band..since I plan on keeping my band for at least 10 years!

Topic: Is it a definate that I will need plastic surgery after gastric bypass?
I am having wls on Oct. 11th and wanted to know if anyone can shed some light on excercizing after wls. Any information or comments are welcome!!!
Topic: Support group forming for Oct 1 - 12 surgeries.
My surgery is Oct 1. And I just posted this morning,Sunday about forming a mini support group for those having surgery between Oct 1 - Oct 12, so our stages are not too far apart.
Of course we will still need support from the old pro's, but thought it would be nice to share & encourage others that share that 2 week time frame. If you are interested, you can go to the Lap Band Forum and look on the boards there. It is probably on the second page now. But post there and contact the other people there so they'll know your date of surgery and we can begin sharing.
If anyone is after that time frame, I would encourage that they form a group for their time period as well.

Hey there-just wondering who's going to be starting a new life the same day I do in perhaps the same hospital???? Went to a pre-surgery class on Weds (9-19-07) and there were a LOT of people there getting banded soon. Were any of them any of you?? Just curious! I was with my husband in the back row

Received my surgery date and have gone for last office visit to do physical and get pre-surgery agenda....will start liver shrinking diet on Thursday, Spet, 28, 2007 ... a little nervous but looking forward to e new me!

Okay, my date's been rescheduled to Oct 26 to allow time for my knee to heal more. Which turned out to be a good thing they rescheduled from Oct 5 to Oct 26 since I sprained my ankle & tore the ligaments on Labor Day (walking in the back yard and tripped in a mole hole!!). Now I'm hoping I can walk into my labs and be able to walk enough that my surgery doesn't get cancelled!! I heard you have to be able to walk 30 minutes at a time right after you get home from surgery. Hope I'm up to it in time!
