You need to find a good gym now, and set up an appt. with a personal trainer. They will set you up, and I will admit it will not be easy. To get the skin to go away, you have to work the fat off and replace it with lean muscle. Believe me, I have already done the above, and don't be embarrassed. My date is Oct. 24, and I am starting now, so I won't be in so much pain later.
Think of it this way, do you really want to have surgery again??? Good Luck. danielle

Hi I am new to this site I am going to have an RNY On October 18th. I am scared and excited at the same time. Dr. Oh from St Francis is doing the surgery. I need all the support and encouragement right-now. I am encouraged by the pictures and the posts. I would also like to find support groups in my area, in Tacoma. I also am taking the vitamins and protein, I hope that my body will be better prepared. I have a question,
How long after surgery can you not lift, and things like housework vacuuming etc.
I also have a horse and I am hoping that I won't be out too long so I can ride and stuff.
Any advice or help would be so appreciated thanks

I have my surgery date and it is October 23rd at 1:00 at Bronson Methodiat Hospitall in Kalamazoo Michigan. Dr. Veresman is my surgeon. I am a lot scared and a lot anxious to get it done all at the same time. I am going in at 358 pounds.

Walking right away is encouraged. I think after 6 weeks is when most docs say you can start going to the gym or doing other kinds of exercise.
As for plastics after wt loss, the people at my support group meetings say exercise, exercise, exercise, and drink plenty of water. They swear that is the key to great looking skin and less saggy skin. I don't know what they look like under their clothes, but they sure look good with their clothes on, it doesn't appear as though they would need plastics.

Congratulations on your surgery date! Good luck and best wishes!! I have the same nervous excitement - excited one day, terrified the next, back and forth. Soon it will be here and we'll be feeling great!
