Jessica the other thing you have to remember is it is a percentage game as well...like me I have lost a lot of weight, 187lbs to be at a normal bmi of 25. On average people will lose 50% the first six months 25% more for a total of 75% by 12 months and then if you work hard you can lose the other 25% by about 18 months out. So for me to be on track I had to lose more than 90lbs by six months....you started out much smaller than me so your weight in lbs would be less but could be the same percentage. Does that make sense?
What you can do to figure out the percentage of excess weight loss is figure out how much you have to lose to be at a normal bmi of 25. Then divide your weight loss by the excess weight to figure out wher eyou are at....for me....
337-150 (bmi of 20)=187
131/187 = 70% of my excess body weight gone.
Ok I think that I have rambled enough....hope that was helpful

Kerry I hear you about the skin It really SUCKS Big time, I can't see my elbow because the skin is hang over it. and with my leggs soon my Knees will be gone,
I could lose another 20 lbs if I got the skin off.
Have a good day. and we will make it throughs this together.
Topic: RE: what are you all eatting now?
I tolerate most things well except \high carbs and anything with too much fat. I still will majorly dump if I get beside myself and consume those. I also have a huge issue drinking cold water. It always makes me super sick.
I wish I could say I was following instructions, but I'm terrible. Somedays I feel like I eat a lot (no where near as much as before) and somedays barely anything. I really have to get refocused on drinking or eating at least one protein supplement per day and taking a vitamin. Perhaps if I start doing it in the morning I can get more consistement

I have lost 98 pounds since surgery. I was 274 and now I weigh 176. My weight loss seems sporadic, but it has slowed a bit. I'm actually okay with it now because I'm sick of buying clothing one week and having it not fit the next! I originally wanted to get to 135 but I've decided to shoot for 150 and see how I feel. I have 26 pounds left to go.

I made 9 months on the 16th. My weight loss has slowed, but it seems sporadic. I still have some issues with nauseau if I eat anything with too many carbs or very cold water. I wish I could say I was one of those people that had followed instructions to the "T" but I haven't. I'm horrible at vitamins. I don't eat nearly enough protein.

Hey Rosalind,
I asked my doctor about it but he seems to think I'm doing pretty well, I had lap band and he said that it's a slower weight loss than some other surgeries and as long as I'm losing even if it's slow it's ok. I do splurge on some treats more than I should, so I guess I could cut that out and work out more.
I'm trying not to freak out about it and remember that the slower I lose it the less likely I'll have tons of excess skin. haha.

Hi Jessica,
Fortunately, but unfortunately, I was happy to see your post. We both had surgery in Oct 07 and I started out about 20lbs more than you. I am only 55lbs down and now it is starting to depress me. I spoke to my NUT earlier today and she is faxing over a meal plan.
I work-out 4x a week, my eating and alcohol intake could be a little better, by far it is not horrible, but I don't know what the freakin prob is. Have they given you any good reason for the slow progress.
Thanks
Rosalind

Oh my gosh, I'm reading all of your stats and I feel like such a loser (not in a good way!!) I'm only down 55lbs!! I thought I was doing good! haha.
Highest: 245
Surgery date: 239
Current: 190
Goal: 160
total loss: 155
30lbs to go!
I'm stalling now too and it's good to know some other people are too. I'm discovering more foods I can eat that I wasn't able to before and I totally agree I wish I hadn't even even tried them!!!
Topic: RE: 9 Months! Where are you?
I won't hit 9 months until the 30th, but since I'll be on vacation (and not getting on line), I'll post now.
Day of Surgery: 318
Current: 197
Goal: 162-157
Total lost: 121
35-40 lbs to go
I too have felt defeated in the last 2 months. The weight loss really slowed, and just felt that I should be doing better. But in reality, it looks like we're all at about the same pace.
