I'm on the countdown less than three weeks until surgery. I'm starting to get a little nervous. I'll take all the encouragement I can get!

Tressia, I too had a very slow start.I lost 25 lbs in two weeks, started on solid foods and in another week gained back 10 lbs that Id lost!! Then after my first fill I only lost 7 more lbs,I have had my third fill now and I changed my diet from low fat,to low carb-high protein (which is what we are suppose to do anyhow) and Im happy to say that now Ive lost a total of 40lbs since June 4th. It is slower for some of us,but DONT give up or give in!! You will lose! A good friend of mine who had to band too told me her doc said the worse thing you can do is compare yourself to other banders, for every person is just that- and individual with a different body. SO with that said, dont fret, you will get the weight off! My best wishes Thursann Hensley

Topic: OCTOBER 15th!
My surgery date is coming up in a couple of weeks. I was just wondering has anybody tried or heard anything about vitamin water or protein water after surgery. I am trying to stock up on supplements now!! Would love to get some feedback especially for 5 day liquid diet coming up next week. Thanks :)

I feel your pain as this is a very difficult decision. I look at it this way. For my last two pregnancies I have been overweight. Twice I had congestive heart failure after a C-section. I am hypertensive and am in the early stages of diabetes. I have battled with my weight from the time I could remember. I have three sisters and four brothers and I remember being the fattiest when we were growing up. I am 42 years old and want to healthy. I have lost weight only to gain it back with a vengence. I have spent most of life worrying about my weight. I feel getting the surgery will help me. I am afraid, but I am even more afraid of being sick when I get older. I watch my grandmother died weighing almost 500 lbs, no legs from heart attack, then a fatal stroke. She live two weeks in a coma. I don't want that for myself. I want to be healthy for my kids, husband and most of all for me. My husabnd and kids does not support me. They think this is to the extreme. So I feel that I am alone in this. I have educated myself and I feel if I continue on the current path, I will harm myself more than this surgery would. Just trust god that you will be fine. No one should have to live with being overweight. Some people could do it on thier own, others like us need help as we are more pre-disposed to being overweight. PS: Please take everything on these boards with a "grain of salt" as we don't know the cir****tances surrounding the particular case. Try to read the more positive postings. If you are like me, I have prayer for God to help me with my weight and he did, through the hands of my surgeon. Cheer up! Fear is good, it keeps us on our toes!

Topic: WHY DID I ONLY LOSE 3 POUNDS IN TWO WEEKS ON MY 2ND FOLLOW UP???!!!
Hello all, Is there anyone who has had thier surgery on or around September 7th 2007? I'm asking because I had my 2nd follow up and I've only lost 3 pounds in 2 weeks!... I was somewhat depressed about that. I lost 12lbs the first two weeks after surgery and 3 pounds the next two weeks???? I have lost a total of 15 pounds in almost one month. My doctor said it was normal but I wanted to here from other banners who has had surgery within the last month. Can someone please tell me how much they lost in the first month after Lapband surgery?
