My surgeon makes me drink three cups a day. I'm having no problems. We need the extra calcium and vitamin D for our bones and it's also a good source of protein. The only reason you shouldn't drink it is if you're lactose intolerant. If you are lactose intolerant, you can get a different kind of milk. Don't worry. Milk is good for you as long as you're not drinking like a gallon a day! LOL

I just read your profile and saw that you had the lapband. I had RNY, so I guess I don't know what the protocol is about milk if you've been banded. Sorry! I should have looked to see what surgery you had first. Shannon

I had the lapband before and my doctor or nutritionist didn't have any type of problem with me drinking milk. They were all for it. Sorry, don't know why your nut thinks different. Maybe you should ask for specifics. felicia

I have the LB and milk is fine to drink. They prefer it to be the FF milk though.

Often times they will say to limit milk because of the calories and fat content....skim milk or 2% is generally what they recommend. Milk is a great source of protien, calcium and Vit D, but it does have fat and calories...so it depends on your surgery type and your focus.
