Hello, everybody! I had my surgery on October 16, 2007, I'm three months out and only lost 30 since surgery. Is this normal? What are you all losing? I'm so terrified that this isn't going to work for me. Any suggestions? Shannon

Alot of it depends on what your starting weight was....you can't really compare pounds to pounds you have to look a percentages. If someone has 200lbs to lose and someone else only has 100lbs....well you aren't going to lose the lbs at the same time, example... 200lbs - 50lbs = 25% weight loss 100lbs - 25lbs = 25% weight loss Although it looks like someone else has lost double the amount you have you could be losing at the same rate....does that make sense?

I had mine 10/22 and have only lost 41lbs since surg. My nut said it was fine and I was considered a slow loser. He said most people drop a bunch of weight fast and then stall a long time and then there is people like me that lose 2-3lbs a week and dont stall but we all end up at the same place in the end.

i had mine on Oct 2 and have lost 62 lbs but a friend of mine had it done 6 weeks before that and lost 97 so it just depends on the person. I have found if I don't drink alot of water and get my protein in I won't lose. Don't worry about it because it will all come off. just hang in there. hugs sweetie.

Hi everyone! I'm grateful that I found this site with people around the same surgery date as mine. I too, have been nearly in a panic thinking that I wasn't losing enough weight. My Dr. and NUT tell me that I am doing very well and to keep up the good work. I am just now beginning to be able to listen to what they're saying. I think we have all been on diets that have failed and it takes a while for us to beleive in ourselves , as well as the surgery. PS, Andrea, we have the same surgery date and oddly enough, our weight loss is identical.

Hi Shannon! I had my surgery on Oct. 30th and I have lost 56 lbs. I have stalled a couple of times and I would panic. I always wanted to compare myself to my sister-in-law that had this done. She had RNY done June 22, 2007 and has lost 130lbs!!! She lost so fast and I kept thinking that is what I should be doing...but everyone and everybody is different...don't get down on yourself...you've lost 30 lbs...that's great!! Have faith in yourself and don't dread it....when I do that I seem not to lose anything....I do walk on the treadmill at least 2 miles at 3.5mph. I think that helps me alot. Good luck!! Amy

I feel guilty at posting to this one as I have lost 79 pounds since October 18, and 109 since I started my journey. My doc said that I'm at the "high end of normal." Everybody is different. Look at it this way, the slower you lose it, the better off for your skin. I'm beginning to have some hangly dangly issues with mine. Not bad, but I can tell. Make sure you are drinking lots of water. It helps.
