Good news .......Bad news!!!!!!!!!!!

hey all its me kevin and i am 5 weeks post op and i have lost 51 lbs i had to get a upper GI done yesterday because they thought i had a stricture but i dont have it YAY!!! what i do have is an ulcer in my pouch they said i have to take my meds for one month and stay on liquids , man does that sound like im going backwards lol anyhoo i just wanted to keep you all updated have a great day and rememeber you are all awesome!!!! kevin

Kevin, I'm thrilled that you don't have a stricture, but so sorry that your new pouch has an ulcer! Well, if anything, being on liquids longer will probably mean you'll continue to lose weight faster. I'm trying to look on the bright side here...how's that working? Either way, here's hoping your feeling better soon!

glad to hear the good news. sorry about the bad news but I think this is a common happening. I have 2 friends that had RNY and developed ulcers in the pouch. The one friends was caused from drinking soda when she knew she wasnt suppose to drink them. The other friends has just had problem after problem since her RNY Will keep you in thought and prayers

hiya kevin SO glad it's not a stricture did your doc have you takinbg prevacid or anything like that prior to getting an ulcer? my doc has had me on prevacid since the day of surgery to prevent ulcers...was wondering if people tend to get them anyway... congrats on the weight loss!! -neska

hey neska! no my doc didnt have me taking anything til now and im only supposed to be on it a month , the ulcer lies at the new hookup between my pouch and intestine, but they caught it when it was very small and just starting so im lucky!!!how are you doing messge me back take care and you are awesome!! kevin

Wow...how has it been in the last week, Kevin? Yikes...how does one prevent that from happening? I'm two weeks post-op and pretty scared of all the "stuff" that can happen. Hey - congrats on your 51+ pounds. THAT is wonderful! ~Val B.

hey val how are you? im doing great !! well you really cant prevent it from happening unless you are prone to ulcers and if your doc orders stuff to prevent it, but i havent had a history of ulcers and didnt know at all what was going on but all is well they caught it in time its small and i havent had any more dry heaves so i am totally getting better and i can now focus on my wieght loss!! well i will talk to you soon please feel free to ask any more questions keep them coming remember you are awesome!!!! kevin
