anyone having issues with protien post op????
Hi Kevin,
I'm 6 days post-op, and I want to let you know that you're not alone! I'm able to keep the protein down, but it's a battle. I can't get over how full it makes me! One ounce of water, broth, jello, or crystal light go down really easy, even two ounces sometimes. But one ounce of protein makes me feel like my pouch is going to burst because it's so full. I find it is a constant struggle to get enough in. Yesterday was the first day I made my protein goal. I drink ready-made Isopure drinks, but find the best option is the bullets. The 25 or 27 gram ones go down the easiest, and I just have one ouce every hour. You can try dilluting them if you have to.
Are you able to keep other liquids down? Such as water or broth? If you're still not able to keep anything down, you should definitely call your Dr.
Hope things start looking up soon!
Deb

I had my RNY on the 2nd of October and have found that the easiest protein for me has been EAS AdvantEdge Protein Shake. It has 17 grams of protein, 3 fats, 4 carbs, and only 110 calories. It's not as thick as the protein powder drinks I had tried to make up in the blender so I can get more down so it helps me.
