tomorrow it will be 3 years ago i had WLS!!! WOW!!!!! can't believe its been that long already!!! my only regret is i waited so long to have this done!!! my life has taken a turn for the better..atleast in my book...i have a man that loves me for who i am and never belittles me in public or in private. he says he doesn't even see the wrinkled skin or the hanging skin from the weight loss!!! says all he sees is the woman he loves to death!!! he has given me so many happy moments i can't believe how happy i am with him!!!! life is good!!! ;-) (i left gary and we divorced last year and he passed away september 11th this year) losing the weight gave me "balls" to move on with my life and i made the move from michigan to ohio a year ago last june. i have a good job with health insurance, i have a man that truely loves me for who i am, i can do things i thought i would never do again in my life, and i am sure all of you that had WLS know exactly what i am talking about. ahhh life is good!!!! most of my labs are good, but i am low on vitamin D so trying to get that up and will be getting that checked at the end of the month again. my weight has stalled now for over 2 years so i guess i am where i will stay. i used to weigh 334 pounds and am now up and down 185-195 pounds. my goal was to be under 200 so i guess i met that goal. i blame the stall on the stress in my life back then. and now since i tried the forbidden foods i can honestly say i wish i never did that!!! i can tolerate them all...if i eat to much i get stinky gas or the "runs", i sometimes over eat and not often get "sick" to make me not do that again!!! if there were a way i could go back to fresh out of surgery to start over i would do it in a heart beat....i would NEVER test the forbidden foods and drinks again. but i can't go back so i watch what goes into my mouth and pray i never go back above 200 pounds again!!! if i see the scale moving up i cut back right away and it comes off...slow but sure.
well i rattled on long enough here and hope to see more of you post on how you are doing 3 years out. i am not seeing many posts on here anymore so i am hoping you all have alot of fun things going now since you are thinner and healthier since WLS!!!
(((october 2006)))
Hello everyone,
It's been so long since I've seen a posting on this board! Hoping that some of you will check in on our three year anniversaries to let us know how things are going!
I've lost 120 pounds - 100% of my EBW - (it took me 16 months to lose all that I wanted) and I've kept it off! It feels like a true miracle and blessing. I was fortunate to have no complications and no real problems. I had one excruciating three-month stall, but otherwise my weight loss happened much the same as we all came to expect. Some weeks I lost a lot, some not so much, sometimes none at all.
My Vitamin D is low, and I am supplementing it pretty hard. Otherwise, my labs are good.
Plastic surgery is next, but I'm still debating about how much to do. As I wait, some things have tightened up but the bat wings definitely have to GO!
It may seem odd, but I go to Weigh****chers every week. I've spend so much time (and money) at WW over the years that I've gotten to know the instructors, the staff and the customers quite well - and I LIKE them. I weigh in every week. I'm a lifetime member, so it is free. A lot of the behavior modification they teach seems to apply to me, but I don't follow their food plan (It would be too much food for me now)
Can't wait to read about each of your journeys and progress now that we are 3 year veterans. Best wishes to all of you!

The only vitamin issue I am having is with my D. I've been supplementing with 50,000 IU's and am SLOWLY getting that level up. My B's are holding fine. I take sublingual B-12 and a multivitamin, as well as Calcium and K1.
What kind of supplements are you taking, and in what amounts?
Congratulations on losing 120 and keeping it off! Quite an accomplishment!
I am glad to hear that you have gotten "back on track". There is even a group here on OH called BOTT (Back on track together) that you could join to help.
I understand about the "stubborn fat"! I stopped losing at 10 months out with 40 pounds to goal and no matter WHAT I do, it refuses to leave. I now go up and down the same 3-5 pounds, which is good according to my surgeons. They all say, "at least you are maintaining...." which may be true but it is still disappointing to still be "obese".
I try to look at the bright side and keep up the fight as much as I can. I DO understand giving up on the fight as this is a life-long battle and sometimes, when there are no losing results, it seems easier to give up.
Come to OH for support. This board has gone pretty dormant, but there is a "Graduates" board that is active and the "BOTT" group may also be helpful. On the "Graduates" board, someone posts a daily accountability thread where you post what you eat each day to help stay on track. Maybe this will help?
I wish you much luck and happiness.....keep the good things in mind.
