Topic: RE: Thursday Roll Call
I am way late but here was my day. I got the kids off to school. Then, had to do banking for my elderly aunt who broke her back. I never thought I would have such a problem banking for someone else. What a fiasco! She doesn't have power of attorney over her financial so they gave me a hard time. They called her to verify that I was her niece and she sent me to do her banking. Grrrrrrrrrr...that too was irritating! Then, off to the grocery store I went for her. It is hard to shop for someone else. I had a list but she wasn't specific enough so I had to keep calliing her from the store.
When I was finished running errands for her I headed hoome to start dinner. I made an awesome meatloaf! I got the recipe from Paula Dean. It was yummo! A little on the greasy side but full of flavor.
Now, I am dealinig with 2 miserable kids. My husband is out mowing the lawn and I am trying to cope. My son who is 11 is going through puberty and is having these emotional outbursts. He is getting mouthy and I do everything to hold back from attacking! LOL My daughter who is 4 has been stuck in the terrible two's for 2 years now! Yikes, when will it end!
I love them to pieces they just try my patience from the minute they come through the door until the minute they go to bed. I guess that's what kids are supposed to do.
I almost forgot to mention that my daughter's absolute favorite teacher quit. I am mortified because she pulled her daughter out of the school and her daughter and mine were truly best friends. I am so upset. Some say change is good but I don't see it that way with this cir****tance. The teacher offered to watch my daughter out of her home but I'm not so sure that is a great idea. What happens when she's sick or one of her kids are sick? What happens when they go on vacation? Will there still be structure for her that she so desperately needs? I don't know what to do.
I wasn't planning on babbling but it sure ended up that way. Thanks for listening.

I can't contribute to this conversation because I don't count carbs.

Topic: RE: WOOOWSER MOMENTS!!!
What can I say that hasn't been said already? You are a remarkable woman who has accomplished so much. I am so proud of you!
I can relate to your being able to sit in a booth now. I find it humorous to sit in a booth and see how much room between me and the table.
About the shoe size, my feet didn't shrink! What's up with that? Not to mention I have huge feet I could stand to lose a size or three!!! LOL
I too just went last week to have my rings resized. I went from a 9 to a 7. I was so shocked! I don't ever wearing a size 7 ring! I hope it fits when it's done!
I noticed how much nicer people are to me too. It actually ****** me off! Why should they treat me any nicer now than before?!? That irritates me. I'm glad you had a great experience. I hope you continue to have these wonderful moments in your life and share them with us.

Topic: RE: Do you "diet"?
I do NOT diet. I also portion control. Like you all know, I have binged on choc. licorice in the past week which I finally got back in control. Having a few bites of something does curve the craving. I don't want to diet anymore. I make good food choices for the most part. I am human and do "treat" myself once in a while except for those damn licorice!!!! LOL

"I have allot of respect for people that choose to never eat sugar or carbs. I think it takes tons of willpower (that I don't have.)"
I totally agree. It was ( for me ) so much easier to learn to just eat smaller portions. To learn that 1 or 2 bites really was enough to satisfy. That the whole bag didn't make it taste better lol. I have had a whole bag of dark chocolate candy's in my frig for 2 months. It would never have lasted an hour before let alone months. Even Dale and Joshua have learned that 1 is enough. Things that used to be just devoured now last and last. Its fun. The other weekend I ate fresh figs. O M G they were heavenly. We only get them up here once a year and every year I soooooooooooooooooo look forward to them. Normally I would eat flat after flat of them. This year I had a couple a day till they were gone. Took me about a week to get through them. I couldn't get over how much better they tasted this year lol. Maybe its because I took the TIME to actually TASTE them for once. If my son has an ice cream ( which is few and far between as I dont keep it in the house or hubby inhales it lol ) I have a bite. I am satisfied as I still got to enjoy it.
I guess I just wondered what others where doing too. Glad to see I am not the only one "living it " the way I am.

Topic: RE: How many carbs?
When I go some place I take my protein shake (2 carbs) , protein bars (avg 15g I do NOT like to use protein bars on a daily basis - personal reasons), LOTS of jerky (3 carbs per serving if I buy it and not make it 0 carbs if I make it) this is my number one staple when traveling. Baby Carrots ( 5 carbs per serving about 6 carrots ). There are tons of veggies I take with me that are low carb and travel well. Bell peppers, Green onions, romaine lettuce ( yes just break it off, dip in some good for you dressing and wa la snack).
As for how I keep it less the 40 well I don't TRY that just happens to be my "average". I don't eat a lot of processed anything so its not hard to keep it down.
For example here is todays food:
Breakfast : 2 eggs 1 carb
Snack: 6 baby carrots 7 carbs ( 5 net carbs )
Lunch : 1 Roma tomato with 3 oz Mozzarella cheese and basil 5 carbs ( 4 net carbs )
Afternoon Snack: Pro Complex Protein Shake w/ water 2 carbs
Dinner: Chicken Thighs with probably a cup of Brussels sprouts 8 carbs ( 5 net carbs )
Evening Snack (optional ): 1/2 cup rice crackers 14 carbs
IF I eat the snack in the evening this works out to 38 carbs or 32 net carbs, 88 grams of protein and 892 calories with only 18 grams of sat fat ...
Now yesterday it was higher as I had a small piece of apple pie (16 carbs) instead of the rice crackers and I had twice the carrots (10 carbs) and they were just yummy! So my total was 45 carbs ...

Hmm. So how the heck do you keep it less than 40? I track it with Fitday, too.
I'm always between 90-120 carbs, 1,100 to 1,300 calories, and 75-100 grams protein. I do a lot of travelling, so I like to eat Wendy's chili when I'm on the road. That alone is 23 grams.

Hey Felicia,
I eat what I want. I just like you, don't choose to eat more than what a nomal serving would be. I have never once since surgery thrown up. I can eat small amounts of sugar without dumping. I allow myself to eat what I want, also because I now exercise, I never did when I was obese. I still loose when I eat carbs. I really believe the key is smaller portion. Thats just me though. I have alot of respect for people that choose to never eat sugar or carbs. I think it takes tons of willpower (that I dont have.)
Well have a great day.

I wish no one would ever have to "know how I felt" before losing the weight I have. *sigh* but sadly way to many people are where I was....
Thank you so very much!!! I am very excited about how much my life is changing. Even more I am so very excited and proud that I am the one changing it for once instead of letting it happen to me like I used to.

LMAOOO you sound like me with our couch now. Its one of those ones that reclines on each side. But the center you completely sink! I used to hate that couch because I thought it was so uncomfortable, now I realize that it was that way because I was so large! Funny part is when I sit in the middle section now my feet don't touch the floor LMAOOO I also had to move the seat in my suburban way up as I seem to have shrunk in there also lol.
Thanks so much for the reply!!!
