Topic: RE: oops - forgot to ask...
No stuffing, sweet potatoes or squash. I have had potatoes once in a while prepared different ways.
I have had bites of waffles, pancakes and french toast, but never all to myself. When I make them for the kids I take a few bites here and there. Maybe once or twice I had a whole pancake or a waffle. I TRY SO HARD to limit my carbs, but some days just don't do that well.
At the fair last week I at a fish sandwich that was on two slices of bread. I ate the whole thing and after I was done thought..."I just ate two slices of bread!" But I got over it and shared a funnel cake with Dave and the kids. It's life, isn't it?
I hope I don't sound like a failure since my surgery. I feel like I am living life and am OK with eating treats and breads and pastas once in a while. This is my lifestyle now.

I've never had them or heard of them either. Sounds yummy. I've been craving Veggie Soup since it is getting cooler.
Topic: RE: "ethnic" restaurants...what do you eat?
Don't eat ethnic very often. Dave doesn't like it. We did go out for Italian one night and I ordered Chicken Parm. It was great. I couldn't eat the pasta that came with it. I LOVE Mexican, but never go to any mexican resteraunts. I do like fajitas and quesadilla's.
I don't eat pizza very often. CARBS!!! DAMN CARBS!!! I make it for the kids and take a bite here and there. Cheese and Pepperoni, thank you very much.

Topic: RE: burgers and other sandwiches
I don't eat burgers often, but do indulge once in a while. I do OK with them. Pre-Surgery, I LOVED the Bonzai burger at Red Robin. The last time I went I ordered it as a lettuce wrap. It was great. I was able to eat about 1/2 of it. I am also OK with eating a McDonalds cheese burger.
I can do sandwiches now, too. I have had sloppy joes, roast beef sandwiches. Now I eat 1 sandwich, rather than 2 and tear off a good bit of the bun. I feel guilty about eating too much bread. Not really what the doctor ordered. Hee Hee.
Topic: RE: rice and pasta
I haven't been eating either because Pasta makes me sick. Feels crappy in my pouch. I did, however purchase a box of Dreamfields Pasta from GNC on Friday and we had it for dinner tonight. I has only 5 digestable carbs and 7 grams of protein. It was SOOOOO YUMMY!!! Tasted just like real pasta, but didn't hurt my belly at all. It was a bit price, $2.69 a one pound box, but SOOO worth it. I used my GNC card and got 20% off. They have lasagna noodles, too. My friend that had WLS 4 years ago recommended it. Her family does Atkins and love it, too.
Now, rice???? I have tried it here and there, and did fine. I just don't make it very often. Rice cakes are ok with me.
Topic: RE: need help
Hi, Missy!!! Congrats on such a great weight loss. Tomorrow we are starting a 5 day pouch test to hopefully get the scale moving again and get back to the basics. Feel free to join in, if you want. See the Thread about it below.
If you are scared because you are hungry all the time, make sure that you are making healthy snack choices. SF Jello or SF Pudding, drink a protein shake, try some beef jerky or cheese, or buy some deli turkey breast in a chunk, rather than chipped or sliced and cut it in cubes to snack on. I've been trying to snack on Shrimp ****tail when I am hungry. Maybe even pick up a hobby that keeps your hands and mind busy. Try to learn to crochet or knit or do some scrapbooking. Read a book or go for a walk. Get your mind off of the hunger.
You have come so far. Keep an eye on that scale. If you notice that it starts creeping up, DON'T WAIT!!! Do something about it now!!! Start journaling your food and drinks. Keep it in www.fitday.com, it is free and seeing what it going in your mouth and how many calories and carbs and proteins, may make you think more about what you eat. You won't go back to where you were 11 mos ago. Hang in there.
Let us know how it is going. Don't be a stranger.

Topic: RE: burgers and other sandwiches
I just ate my first burger out at a really nice restaurant. I didn't order it without the bun because it's too difficult. I took it off the bun and ate it topped with cheese, ketchup, pickle and tomato. It was yummy!
I've also shared a club sandwich. I just take the toppings off the bread.
Topic: RE: booze
I recently went to Las Vegas and the only drink I could think of that didn't have sugar, that I didn't think would kill me was a Bloody Mary. I had a couple over a couple of hours and was feeling pretty good. I sipped them, but it did wear off very quickly.
I'm going to have to check out the sugar free mixes. Sounds yummy!
Topic: RE: time between food and drink?
It's funny how all surgeons vary. Ours (my husband's and mine) says to wait 15 minutes after drinking before eating and 45 minutes after eating before drinking.
I have to stick to it or like Tiff, I feel sick. I make this my second priority (after making sure I get all the protein in).
Our surgeon claims that the number one reason WLS patients gain weight is because they are not following the liquid rule. Apparently, men are more prone to not following this rule.
